GAME TIME
Sunday, October 4
1:00PM EST
Last meeting:
Kerry Collins threw for three touchdowns to lead the Titans past the Jaguars, 24-14, on Nov. 16, 2008.
Streaks:
The Titans have won four of the past five meetings and have a 16-12 overall series edge.
Last week:
Special teams mistakes doomed Tennessee in a 24-17 loss to the New York Jets. ... Maurice Jones-Drew scored three touchdowns as the Jaguars knocked off the host Texans, 31-24.
Keep your eye on ...
Which team demonstrates more desperation: After starting 10-0 last season, the Titans have begun 2009 at 0-3. They should have a clear sense of urgency and must stop the losing skid in order to maintain playoff hopes, but Jacksonville will also be inspired to try to even its record at 2-2.
Collins' accuracy: Tennessee's starting quarterback ended last Sunday's loss to the Jets with 13 straight incompletions. He has to get back on target against a Jaguars defense that ranks last against the pass in the NFL.
Mike Sims-Walker becoming a No. 1 receiver: Torry Holt was brought in during the offseason to be a steadying force for the wideouts and has settled in nicely to the No. 2 role. A void remained at the top of the depth chart, however, and Sims-Walker appears to be claiming that spot. He has 12 catches for 187 yards in his past two games.
Did you know?
Titans LB Keith Bulluck has started 116 straight games. ... Tennessee DE Jevon Kearse has 10.5 career sacks against the Jaguars -- his highest total vs. any team. ... Since 2006, Jacksonville is 17-4 when gaining 150 yards on the ground. ... Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis is the franchise leader in career interceptions with 26.
