People don't have to be mods to help organize a forum. They could give support, advice or just give ideas on ways to improve. They could even make there own threads.

Hmm... To let as many people participate as possible, my suggestion is that you could let everyone join (which could be 40, 50 or more) for the first round of the competition. Out of that 40 or so that participated in the first round, you could eliminate the half that got the lowest amount of votes and end up with about 20. Then with the 2nd round you could do the same, until there are 10 forumers left. Once there are 10 left, it is very easy to just have one person voted off on each round, instead of loads. You might not even want to do it this way, but it is just an idea.

P.S. I’m just using these numbers as examples.

There was a MAPS but iWaddle ruined it. So it's best to not say that it actually happened.

I/we considered that, and the popularity blurb is directly related to post count and join dates (as stated in the rules) and was added during a time when every other thread in the CP game forum was about who had the most party hats.

Technically by proxy the "rule about popularity" would have barred the MAPs from being worked on (both times) but nobody seemed to really mind about that, probably because it wasn't a part of any poll when the idea came up. Steve Green's idea has "popularity" in the title but if you read the original description (http://penguinforum.miniclip.com/showthread.php?t=81738) of it there's less of an emphasis on actual popularity and more of one on how well people are able to complete the tasks assigned:

People will vote for you depending on how popular you are, and how good you are in that days competition. Competition's include, making a funny megathread, posting a spankin RP, making sexy GFX. AND MORE!

It's more of a reality-show based format than any kind of award ceremony for who has the most coins and Rockhopper sightings. It reads off more like a contest to see who is the most well-rounded forumer than the most popular.

And of course, Steve put this in white text in his thread:
This is not really a popularity contest, that is just an amazing name eh? I mean if this was a popularity contest, then that would make every contest one too... O: and if this idea hasn't blown your mind, then just vote for us because you love us.

And to Steve: I was going to suggest rather than voting people OUT I was considering asking your opinion on giving out points for each contest completed. Since you have 15 people that would be 2 polls, so just make a list of whomever has the most votes down to the least and there's your daily ranking. 1st place is worth X number of points, working down to the bottom 5 or so which are worth nothing. Or something.
