GOLDEN, Colo., Aug. 16 (UPI) -- A Colorado car dealer got a shock when a man drove in with a trade in the cash-for- clunkers program, a 1985 Maserati BiTurbo.

The car is in almost pristine condition, KUSA-TV, Denver, reported. There are only 18,480 miles on the odometer.

While the Italian sports car stands out among the battered trucks and SUVs other people have brought to Go Subaru in Golden, it qualified under the program. The owner got a $3,500 rebate on a new Subaru Impreza.

People are smart these days, aren't they?

What a waste of a good car.

I really wish they would not destroy so many cars, I would really, REALLY like to get my hands on another early 1990's Ford Explorer (I used to own one) so I could have it jazzed up like the Jurassic Park vehicles. I can't beat an offer of Uncle Sam's $4,500 for such an old car without ripping myself off. :(

edit; DeLoreans too, but I don't think anyone would dare let someone crush one of those.

Seems like it didn't run to well, the engine could have died a long time ago. The car could have served no other purpose than to sit around and look pretty. If not, what a waste.

They're back in production (sort of) if that makes a difference. http://www.delorean.com/sales.asp

This makes me so sad.

They're going to do is ruin the engine on it when the pour that darn chemical in. I want to kill them.

All these cars in perfect condition that get better gas mileage than my dad's, and they're just going to destroy them.

Well, CFC ends midnight Monday, so you can get your Jurassic Park vehicle made Draco. You have got to post pictures of it here when it's finished.

Ahahaha wow that's awesome!!

What's awesome is that an Eibach suspension kit is at only $400! Though a 197HP $5,750 engine is too much.

Wow. This is proof that the dealers rip you off. He could have sold that car to a car collector for 10 times that amount. And if he was gunna trade it in, he should have gotten the full $4,500.
