well, I live in NJ and my music teacher's son has a local band called "Of Fate and Chance" Punk Rock/Heavy Metal and the dad/music teacher loves music without words and at a medium noise level.

Ooh! I went to one of thier concerts, and the band they performed with was cool, but I still liked the Fray better. But now they're going on tour with my next favorite band, Ok Go. (Some of you may know them as "the crazy treadmill dance video guys")

Though, I'd have to say the band that originated close to me would be the Goo Goo Dolls, who are going on tour with another band that's one of my favorites, Augustana. I just get whatever I want when I go to these concerts, don't I?

Oo, Ok Go! I used to catch their music video with the treadmills on MTV Morning Wakeup almost everyday...

Chicago is a big city but I'll name a couple well known artists this way. Twista (rapper), Kanye West (rapper), Smashing pumpkins, Chicago (the band), Los Crudos (well known 80's punk). If I missed any important ones, let me know chicagoians.
