- THE HISTORY -
Code: BS was a show that introduced me into the foray of working with film and multimedia. It was the first production I was able to tack my name onto and was originally produced from early 2001 through late 2004. Code: BS was the first production that the original Twilight Foundry had to its name and the only series credited to Shoe Films. Originally set to be released through P2P networks in the early 00's Code: BS began to run into problems regarding its release. The show continued to be filmed for 3 years although an appropriate outlet was never determined.

Code: BS ended production in 2004 when the crew of the show could not come to any conclusions and they disbanded. Code: BS was discussed as a potential series in the lineup of the ill-fated RFSHQ but distribution rights for some of the cast's likenesses could not be secured. Code: BS was originally proposed to RFSHQ in 2004 and again in 2006 after the Code: BS spin-off The Radio F Show had ceased production (The Radio F Show was produced from 2004 - 2006). The show was finally shelved in 2007 until an interest was rekindled in 2009 when the newly re-established Twilight Foundry Films cut a pilot episode to send to former members of the cast for consideration.

Oh nice. I liked the radio f show... especially that one where you owned that fire truck.
Anyway, what I did watch of this seemed hilariously awful, good job. :D
(it is meant to be like that, right?)

Some of C:BS was scripted, some of it wasn't. IMHO some of the best parts we ever captured was when the camera was rolling and nobody was really aware of it (see: "Buddy Buck"). In 2001 when the show first started being filmed Casey had been fooling around with some video-related stuff before I think, I hadn't. I had spent the past 6 or so years writing about video games, three of which were spent entirely writing about Pokemon. I knew how to make things funny but I was largely awkward in front of the camera since I didn't really know what I was supposed to do. Unfortunately seeing as how I came up with a lot of material it was me in front of the camera most of the time. In later years I was less fidgety, you can tell by comparing the Afghanistan video (2001) to the Diet Coke one (2004).

A few skits we tried being serious with, in the Pilot I think the ones I remember TRYING to make funny were "Juice Explosion", "Holy Chandelier" (that was take three you saw), "Diet Coke With Lime Crash Helmet" (was a recurring skit), "Assassin", "Afghanistan/New York", and "The Casey Attacks".

It was a while ago. If the show works out we're going to shoot a bunch of short hosting segments before all of them so they have some kind of framework for people to understand them.

Oh joys it's back. *catches pilot*

Whenever I think of Code: BS I think of the episode "The Casey." Figures.

Despite what I said on the You Tube video (which was before I watched it all), I enjoyed most of it. Shorts like "New York, Afghanistan" - if that's even the actual name - kinda got annoying though.

"Afghanistan/New York" was the title of that if I remember correctly. We named most of the skits, usually something simple like one word or a quote from the clip.

A lot of the 2001 skits have not aged too well, but some of them have nice exchanges of dialog such as this gem when Casey argued with me about what was growing on the trees in his backyard:
Casey: DO YOU KNOW WHAT THOSE ARE?!
J: Those are limes.
Casey: Those are not limes.
J: Those are limes.
Casey: Those are tangerines, ****head.
J: Those are limes.

I don't think a whole lot was scripted back then, if it was it was mostly "okay I'm going to do this".

edit: I just remembered that I threw Casey's lawn chair out of his tree house on tape and broke it. I need to find that clip.
