It came to my attention that if you’re using explorer than in Google page Chrome advertisement appears. But if you’re using Firefox, no advertisement. Is Google supporting Firefox and open source? If so, why have they developed Google Chrome?

They're still supporting open source as chrome is open source, despite the lack of non-Google development for it.

Maybe they're just saying IE is bad?

I don't know, perhaps they forgot to program the message to show if your using a non-IE browser.
