Yes, I have died. Now, a moment of silence for me. No time for silence, actually. Just time to avenge me.

It was 5/10/09. I traveled all the way from Michigan to Las Vegas for my birthday. However, on a cruise, some punks just threw me right off of the boat! I swam to shore, and until the 18th, I was without food. The water was scarce, but I survived. However, when I returned to civilization my money was lost. Those punks probably pick-pocketed me! I only had a bottle of water which was half full. On my birthday the next day, I was still starving. However, I wasn't thirsty. I was wandering in a forest, lost, and found two paths. One had a mysterious robed figure holding out a blue fruit, while the other path seemed to lead to the other side of the forest. I chose the mysterious robed figure. S/he gave me the blue fruit, and I gobbled it up. It burned my throat, and I collapsed to the ground, dead.

Extra hint: Fond of the character L from Death Note. It is confirmed s/he only likes L for one thing about him.

The distance between Detroit and Las Vegas is 1761 miles. I think you put from Detroit to Los Angeles.:P

I searched posts about L and his eating habits, and the only ones I could find were made by TomY, Rathu and you. Since Rathu and you were both guessed already, that leaves TomY.

TomY does have the peach-ish robe and hat thing. His profile picture is the starfish guy from Spongebob. He is a guy. That's about it that I could find on TomY.

I found civilization on 5/18/09. 18 is a multiple of 9. We didn't want to make it too obvious by using 5/27/09. I was actually killed on 5/19/09, however that has nothing to do with anything besides the fact of the two nines in that date and that it was my birthday.
Leelad and I were actually worrying that someone wouldn't guess on the first try. Apparently we didn't have to worry, as this got 11 pages and was harder than Snazzy's death, but not as creative. All of your guesses were great, however incorrect. The person who guessed Samwesty999 was the closest, due to the three nines in his name. Good job everyone, however you failed to find the killer. ;)

Since no one has solved this case (and because I partially forgot the murderer myself and it was nice to see a hard case trying to be solved), this is the second failed case in the Murder Mystery Forum. Shame.
