Colby Curtin, a 10-year-old girl suffering from terminal vascular cancer, told her mom that she wanted to live to see Pixar's Up. But before she could visit the theater, her condition became too unstable for her to be moved.
Colby's family called Pixar, guessed a name of an employee to break through the automated operator and explained the situation to the first person they reached. A Pixar employee flew out immediately with a DVD, toys and posters in hand. From the OC Register:
Colby couldn't see the screen because the pain kept her eyes closed so her mother gave her a play-by-play of the film.
"Do you think you can hang on?" Colby's mother said.
"I'm ready (to die), but I'm going to wait for the movie," the girl replied.
At the end of the film, the mother asked if her daughter enjoyed the movie and Colby nodded yes, Lisa Curtin said.
Colby died later that evening, hopefully fulfilled in at least some small way.

What a sad story, R.I.P.
Excellent company, though.

Holy flipzors, that's really depressing. -_- I mean, I'd cry a lot if I saw her. Then hug her... at least the company is really nice and does things like that. Still depressing, though.

That is really sad.... :( The good thing was that she was able to watch Up before she died. I feel sorry for her parents. :'(

Many other companys wouldn't have done a thing like that. What a great company and I hope she rests in peace.

No, it was a private screening, Pixar took the DVD back when they left.

It's a "For Internal Use Only" DVD or a private screening DVD given out to movie critics and such. I have one from the movie Transiberian, they look the same as the real DVDs, they just say "Preview" or "Screener" on them.

That's just the saddest story I've heard in the week. At least Pixar could grant her last wish before going to the grave.

Poor girl. At least she got to watch one of Pixar's greatest movies before she died.
