I like the background a lot, but I think you are putting too much emphasis on black here.

In my opinion, I think you should replace the thick fading black border with a thin, white one.
That would create an effect that would make it appear to be glowing.

Not really sure how to improve the rest of it, but that black fade is just unappealing IMO.
That might be because you also have a black fade inside the orange boxes too.
