Back in town to rock your face once again uPick is here to deliver the awesome. Same rules apply as the first time.
Idea submissions end: October 25th

Maybe you can speak for yourself, but hey we've done our best to get creative with JFF forums and really the only things we managed to do was come up with a forum about reptiles, a forum to make fun of people that totally didn't work out, a game show thing that went on for about fifteen months it seems, and then Vital Viper's forum about superheroes that seemed pretty out of place and made about as much sense as playing Curling with explosives and replacing the brooms with small children. Yeah, that weird.

Really? Thus far we've only really hit it good with a role play forum... which again is one of those "what in the world is this doing here" kinds of forums but meh whatever, you picked it out and made Not So Live Action Role Play a successful forum right? Clearly you understand the community better than the people who are paid (?) to run the thing. I don't get paid, but I'm pretty sure Dracophile does. He is perpetually broke because he blows all of his money on Dragonheart memorabilia. I don't know much about Tetsumonchi but seeing as how his email is "Cyber Raptor" and his livejournal is peppered with dinosaurs I think it's safe to assume that he is exactly like Dracophile.

My my, I've gone two whole paragraphs without even saying a single thing about this uPick nonsense. Hi, I'm Roastmaster and this is the third time I am typing this salutation, because I haven't yet picked up on the subtle hint that it has doomed my previous 2 projects here. uPick is this creative little idea where we let you go crazy and talk about ideas for a JFF forum to have, and then we pick the best ideas and make a poll. The winner of said poll gets their forum for a month and Dracophile is gracious enough to let the winner also have moderation responsibilities of their subforum.

OH GOD YES I JUST SAID THAT NOW BEFORE YOU COLLECTIVELY EXPLODE IN ANTICIPATION AND GLEE LET ME QUICKLY LAY DOWN SOME RULES
1. The moderator thing...
Because I know this is the thing you want to hear about. It's actually the final point in this list... I only put this here for your attention. I'm sorry.

2. How do I suggest a forum?
To suggest a JFF forum you can start a thread in here to talk about the idea and get some feedback from the community. For example if you want a forum about lumberjacks and their funny colored oxen then you'd start a thread about it. Let's keep threads in here for ideas and suggestions only if at all possible please. As for limits of ideas, let's keep it at 2 ideas maximum for now, we want to do this again sometime if it works out so don't burn them all up this first time around.

3. How do forums get selected for the final poll?
We (the staff) will take a look at the suggestions and pick the 10 best sounding ones, if we get that many. If not we'll just have however many.

4. How does the final poll work?
The idea with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie we'll have a short tiebreaker poll between those ideas.

5. Okay, my idea about people who drive machines named "Killdozer" won, now how does this moderator thing work?
Simple. Your forum is created and listed under the JFF category, depending on the nature of the forum post count may or may not be applied. You will be granted moderator status of your forum and your forum only. If you try to fool around with threads elsewhere you'll be sadly disappointed.

6. OMGZ CAN I SEE TEH STAFF FORUMZ??!11
Actually you can't. There is also no change to your name or account appearance for the duration of the forum. In all honesty you really don't look like a moderator. You also cannot ban users, give infractions, or moderate anything outside of your forum. Uh, to make it sound awesome again you're like a SECRET AGENT - YEAH, a SECRET AGENT! Isn't that awesome? Now you can get that cool phone with the hex-nut wrench and the comb and stuff.

7. Roastmaster this deal blows and I hate you forever.
:3

ADDITIONAL FAQ: I want to offer a prize with this contest, what will Dracophile dispense as a prize?
If the winning forum is a contest of sorts, Dracophile has said that he will allow the "grand prize" to be one of his "get of infraction free" cards to pardon any previous infraction you have on your account worth 1 point. If you so choose to offer something else as prizes such as signatures or avatars you may do so. For security reasons we cannot allow USERS to offer Club Penguin memberships or other merchandise as a prize.

Are we allowed to post more than one idea?

Let's keep it no more than two ideas. If this works out we would like to do it a second time, so don't burn out all of your ideas if you have a bunch.

edit: And you can post your ideas in two separate threads.

I would totally suggest a forum version of the classic board game/movie "Clue". Too bad I have basically no patience to even attempt it. :P

I'm thinking we can take submissions through the weekend, that way we can roll out the winner in June?

Will the chosen person be able to ban/give infractions?
Because, what if some random new-kid comes up with the winning idea, and decides it'd be fun to ban everyone...

You won't be able to do that. I setup the group so that abuse simply isn't possible regardless of who wins. The only "abuse" one can do is defacing your own forum that you win from the contest, which is counterproductive.

Everyone is suggesting games. :3

A main reason just to pick Steve Green's idea of a Game Show Forum. (So, everyone is pleased.) Can't wait to see which ideas are picked.

Alright you guys, voting is open so we're done with submitting ideas - don't post anymore NEW threads in here, okay?

Once voting is over we'll close the uPick forum and replace it with the winner!

But still, that might be my idea so no one steal it.

uPick is open for contest #3, the same rules as last time apply.

Yes, you may re-submit the same idea if you choose to do so. Only new postings will be considered, so if you had a suggestion from uPick 1 or 2, post it a 3rd time if you're feeling lucky and we will consider it for the final poll.

(If you're a previous winner, no you cannot submit the same idea again. Steve.)

Suggestions/idea posting time ends October 25th, which is plenty of time!

Yes, we apologize. Dracophile put a "temporary stop" on the influx of new ideas and things in the works for some confidential reasons (he will get really mad if I start posting them like I have done with some other things in the past). He says it looks like things are organized so he gave uPick 3 the thumbs up.

So, when's the Voting going to start? Only one week left until November.

Come on Roasty, don't let this Forum face what the Roast went through.

So, when's the Voting going to start? Only one week left until November.

Come on Roasty, don't let this Forum face what the Roast went through.

I'm ultimately in charge of setting up the final stuff and approving things and I have been backlogged with a lot of work. I spent a large portion of October writing the screenplay and other things for MCCP (the movie) and ignored a boatload of work relating to both school as well as my job at TrackMill, both of which have things needing to be completed by November 1st (as well as, strangely enough, the initial prepping for MCCP).

I'm sorry, Roastmaster submitted his list of candidates and I haven't approved it or even looked at it. Tomorrow I am in class until 10PM but if I get a window of free time in the middle of the day I will look things over. He and the mods are just doing what I ask, which is "don't do anything until I approve it". So, don't shoot the messenger, you can be mad at me if you want. :(

So in short, I will have this done tomorrow and I do apologize for stifling the amount of time dedicated to voting. There was some serious cause for concern the beginning of this month with forum-related matters and they put a damper on progress because I put a "full stop" on any projectss forum-related temporarily. Things have blown over, and the result of the "emergency" was a delayed debut of uPick as well as me finally deciding to put this movie thing together.

Excuses excuses, I know. :(
