This isn't quite as bad as it sounds.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A kindergarten teacher in Connecticut has been arrested for allegedly forcing a 5-year-old boy to eat food the child had thrown in a garbage can.

That might be the most stupid thing I've ever heard. She isn't the brightest crayon in the box is she?
I can picture her now...http://www.gunculture.net/images/uploads/fatmunter.jpg

How did she become a teacher? I feel sorry for the 5 year old. Having to eat garbage. She's mean.

Oh ew I hate food that has touched things that aren't food or plates, if I was the kid I would have thrown up if I'd been made to do that.
On the teacher.
Deliberately.

So what? He had to eat chicken nuggets out of the trash can?
There's a crazy thing called famine and many people would walk
several miles just for some nuggets.
And there's a crazy thing called THIS STORY IS STUPID AND
EVERYONE IN CONNECTICUT WAS TRYING TO START SOME
HUGE SCANDAL BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING BETTER TO DO
IN CONNECTICUT.

An excellent point, and there are much worse thing that happen HERE, in Australia, every day. We have bushfires burning or burned out in most of Victoria, we're in the middle of a drought, and we have floods up in upper Australia. Along with all the normal bad things that happen here, like gangs harassing me on the way to school, your story seems pretty dumb.
THREE WORDS, GET OVER THIS. IT'S A PRETTY DUMB STORY, CONNECTED WITH PHENOM'S POINT.

I'm only contributing to Phenom's post;
At least she should have scolded him for throwing his lunch, but not re-eat it!

Guys, it's not trash. It is edible food, that probably wasn't even in the trash can for even a minute and probably didn't touch anything else besides the plate it was on, it's not like it was setting there four hours as dangerous feces and bacteria crept into it.
Get over it. At least I give my uneaten food to my goats, you wasteful human beings.
It bothers even me to see people waste food. I'm not sure I would have them go to the garbage and fish it out to eat it, but still. Maybe the kid learned a lesson, or maybe he/she is the same whiny brat from before. I could personally care less. Teach your own kids so someone else doesn't have to do it for you.
EDIT: How do you force someone to eat something? Was she physically stuffing the food down his throat?

The Connecticut conspiracy falls back into play, they are exaggerating in hopes of national attention!

I don't see how you can feel sorry for the child. He's the one who threw the food away. At least finish it before throwing it away. What's the point of eating lunch if you're just going to throw it away? I'm also wondering how she forced him to eat it. Did she like shove it down his throat?

Yes. Because that 5 year old boy will know all about the food famine and starvation. He's a 5 year old kid, who wasn't hungry.
If it meant that much to the teacher, she could've eaten it herself
I feel sorry for the poor kid
