View Full Version : Pancake Eating Contest Winner Chokes to Death - He Stuffed 43 Into His Mouth

Seen as he stuffed his mouth with Pancakes, it's weird how he chocked to death.

Boris Isayev, 48, from west Russia (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/fc/russia.html) died on stage moments after winning the competition to mark the end of Butter Week.
The contest, which took place in the town of Chernyakhovsk, was part of festivities to celebrate Maslenitsa, the last week before the period of Lent starts.
According to local traditions, meat, fish, dairy products and eggs are forbidden during Lent, as well as dancing and parties.
Witnesses described Mr Isayev as "the most active participant in the contest" adding that he "ate all the types of pancakes on offer and won fairly".
The witness added: "He had really enjoyed the pancakes but then he started foaming at the mouth and went down like a sack of stones.
"People have fainted during the contests before."
Medics tried to revive Mr Isayev after he collapsed while collecting his prize on stage.

Uh, John, I believe you mean he got a burst bladder. :P Ick, not a pretty sight. Did they determine the exact cause of death? Was it too much food, high cholestorol, or what? :confused:

Actually, the woman who died for a wii got a type of poisoning. If you drink to much water, then you can die from some type of water poisoning, I don't remember the full story.

Poor guy. But really it's disgusting to do those wating contests, you don't know what you're gonna get.


That woman who died from getting a wii, was participating in a radio contest where you had to drink the most water... Well, they found out that indeed, water poisoning DOES happen. :|

That's just horrible. Poor man. I feel so sorry for him and his family/friends although really taking part in an eating contest is a pretty stupid thing to do, imo. I totally disagree with eating contests on so many levels. Saying that, it doesn't make what happened any less of a tragedy, of course. :[

Water becomes toxic to the body in extreme amounts. $5 says the contest managers didn't know this.

Poor Guy. We Russians love pancakes (meat and sourcheese are the best go alongs), especially home made. I hope it will teach those who doing those eating contests.

Yes...pancakes kill. Can't believe he choked and die. He won the contest but lost a life.

I think french toast would be better. They are rectangle and rectangle cannot be square while squares can be rectangle. He wouldn't choke that way :D
