Global warming......Something that Is/will affecting us .
Arctic ice is rapidly disappearing and the region may have its first completely ice-free summer by 2040 or earlier. Polar bears already suffering from the sea-ice loss........Spring is coming earlier in the northern hemisphere.....It is said that humans have caused all or most of the current planetary warming.
So...Your views on Global Warming??

I blame Aliens. [/endthread]
Joking. xD
Global Warming might not even be us that's causing it. Years and years and years ago, during the first Ice Age I think it was, the earth heated up, like it is doing right now. No, in fact, EXACTLY what it is doing right now.
Don't be frightened or scared by it. It's doing something that is probably meant to happen. Sure, we are releasing gases into the air, but stopping all that won't change it fully, because the earth is heating up itself.

It's really bad. If we don't do something now it won't be able to be reversed. Even if it is natural for the earth to heat up, we are definitely contributing more heat and pollution than necessary.

I don't believe in Global Warming.
However... I DO believe in Global Climate Change. It is getting colder in the winter, and warmer in the summer. Except in 2008, the summer was mostly below-average temperatures, and was really nice.

I don't believe in Global warming. It ticks me off to have to listen to it for a while. We jut had a assembly at school on it and it was a lot of nonsense.
With living in the Midwest, there comes to be harsh weather about. and the whole US has basically gone through a VERY cold and wintery winter. But really, the earth goes through cycles and and S-E-A-S-O-N-S. I mean it seems like some researchers have totally forgot what happens in seasons. It gets cold in the fall and winter and hotter in the spring and summer. It's been happening like this for FOREVER.
I do believe that there is climate change, but again like I said, it's a cycle the earth goes in.
Besides the things that the news isn't telling you is that the ice levels have DOUBLED over their original size in the past year or two.
News now a-days is just trying to scare people. They mention all these ludicris small things that are happening in our world and there is little emphasis on the big deals. in other words, things are blown out of proportions now.

The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere does have an effect on the climate. Whether or not the contributions of the people on earth are significant enough to do anything is debatable.
I've looked at some graphs about the phenomena, and read about it. It's really quite complex.
Besides the things that the news isn't telling you is that the ice levels have DOUBLED over their original size in the past year or two.
Weather on the earth has always fluctuated from year to year.

It is scientifically proven that the Earth's average temperature has been rising a while.
The real debate is whether it is man made or a natural cycle.
If its a natural cycle, it had better stop soon or else we are looking at huge damage to the human race. As a previous poster said, Earth will adapt. True, but mankind can't if we don't do anything about it.
If it is human caused, then we must cut our CO2 emissions, and fast.
The Bush Administration first denied the existence of global warming, and when that was no longer possible, they denied that global warming was human caused, so they didn't have to enforce stricter environmental regulations on big business. That is where most people get the "global warming isn't real" idea from.
If it is a natural cycle, as many of you claim, do you know when it is going to stop? Because the damage has already started.

pfft, it doesnt exist. It is a myth which is the reason why people now call it climate change. THERE IS NO WAY TO PREVENT HEATING OF THE EARTH. The volcanoes cause extreme heat and smoke into the atmosphere. Even the farts of cows. Yea, I am series. The methane gas in a fart is poisoness.

People want to avoid it, but the truth is, there's a huge amount of evidence for its existence.
The USA seems a lot less concerned than the people here, but they're a massive part of it, who needs to do their bit.
Whether it is man-made or not, man are the only spiecies who have the intelligence to put a stop to it, so why bother debating the blame?
If our planet survived the mass extinction millions of years ago,our planet will survive Global Warming.
Edit:If our planet does turn into a lava planet it will adapt, animal species will adapt.
Species take millions of years to adapt.
How can they adapt when they die before the species can grow again?

It doesn't matter.
All we know is, carbon dioxide levels and temperature levels are rising almost in parallel and nowadays it's almost always taken as fact.
Evolution is a theory, but almost everyone believes that now.
The only reason people try to prove it wrong is because they can't be asked to do something about it.
@Billboard: I'm not gonna start this with you again, because some Twirp wannabe's gonna come along with a load of big words again.

It is called a cycle. Global warming is a really untrue sorry to say. Even if there is let the people in 500 or 1,000 years deal with it. Plus if this does happen it is called adaption. Humans can adapt just like any living creature on earth. I'm not going to get into this debate, because I hold my opinion with the things I've read.
It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.
Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment.
If you really want to know who wrote this article, the founder and the former owner of the Weather Channel, John Coleman.

You know, I'm sorry to be mean, but in all honesty it's the shallow, thoughtless, uncaring people in this world who have attitudes like yours, that are causing all these environmental problems. Not just climate change, but air pollution, sea pollution, the deforestation of the Amazon, and the loss of resources. Global warming is a problem, and while some people say it's not our fault, we've certainly shown in the past that we're definitely capable of something like this. Look at the Industrial revolution. There is a hole in the ozone layer over my country in Summer, and I can't go outside without SPF30+ on, or I run the risk of dying of skin cancer in later life.
Tell me that was caused naturally.

The Bible can't predict the future.
Global warning is a conspiracy, since the earth gets hotter and colder each year. It's basically so the American government can lower the gas emissions and spend less money on barrels of gasoline, thus saving the economy in some way.
With that warming and cooling cycle in mind, the earth will probably go through another ice age in the future.

There is no such thing as Global Warming.
Around 1300 AD, the earth started to cool and we went into a mini Iceage. We are coming out of that ice age.

The Bible can't predict the future.
Taken from a website I posted in another thread.
Job states, in speaking of God, that "He stretcheth out the north over the empty space, and hangs the earth upon nothing" (Job 26:7). That, of course, is a well-known fact today. The earth is literally "hanging upon nothing." But we must remember that this was not the concept of Job's day. Men in Job's time felt the earth was possibly suspended on the backs of four elephants, which stood on the back of a giant turtle! Or, they felt that the earth was suspended upon the shoulders of a supernaturally strong man! There were many odd views about the condition of the earth, but none stated the matter in the clear and correct manner as does Job. A lucky guess--when everyone else was wrong?
bullet
Isaiah says, "It is he [God] who sits upon the circle of the earth " (Isaiah 40: 22).
bullet
The Hebrew word Isaiah used for "circle" means literally something with "roundness" or "spherically." Of course, the people of Isaiah's time (and for many generations to come) thought the earth was flat, not spherical. Another lucky guess?
I think global warming is just a fake reason for us to go all conservative.

Does any natural process on Earth occur within a year or two? I don't mean weather or natural disasters, by the way. Decomposition can take 5 million years if the material is of the right elemental composition, and fossilization can happen in a much longer time span. Do you expect to wake up one day and see your thermometer outside hit 40 degrees on a summer day? The ice age itself took thousands of years to melt and warm up again. Take care of the subtle signs of the Earth gradually cooling.
I doubt that the polar ice caps will melt completely, even though the Earth has warmed up on the cycle. That was tasteless to say that the next generation won't know about the ice caps... it's not like every evidence of the ice caps will be wiped out in a sudden solar flare.

Yes yes, its all natural, nothing to do with C02 emissions. Even if we accept that premise, it is still just as bad because global warming has already started affecting people's lives. Unless it stops tomorrow (which it will not) sea levels will continue to rise, which affects El Nino which will basically screw everything up. So while it is fine and dandy to say years of human pollution have absolutely no effect on the environment, and green house gases do nothing to our atmosphere, and that it is perfectly natural so its fine, we (as humans) might want to consider taking action to combat global warming on some level (no matter how natural it is) as the human race is looking at serious consequences otherwise.
As for the next generation not knowing what an ice cap is... its called a hyperbole. I don't see how it is "tasteless". I don't actually think the ice caps will melt that fast, it is a slow process. We still have time, but not much.

THE SAME THING HAPPENED MILLIONS OF YEARS AGO, THE EARTH HEATED UP, ICE MELTED, YADA YADA! IT WILL EVENTUALLY COOL DOWN AGAIN, HOWEVER, WE ARE DAMAGING THE PLANET WITH THESE GASES, BUT GLOBAL WARMING ISN'T CAUSED BY THAT. GLOBAL WARMING HAS ALREADY HAPPENED! POLAR BEARS, THEY MIGHT GO EXTINCT, BUT WHAT IF IT'S ALL MEANT TO HAPPEN? TO CREATE ROOM FOR A NEW SPECIES??
You don't know. Those who say humans cause it and those who say it is natural, they are both right AND wrong.
Global Warming happened years ago, the Earth survived.
Global Warming will happen now. The Earth WILL survive.
Polar bears are suffering, the summers and winters are getting slightly warmer.
Slightly is the key word, slightly. That means, it's not up at 100 degrees centigrade and all the ice is melting, oh no! No. It isn't. It's rising by a degree or two. Yes, it might melt the ice, but maybe there is a reason?
Gases are destroying the ozone layer, but that isn't the cause of most of this.
Yes, we should cut down on the gases that are released into the atmosphere, but although it'll help, it won't stop Global Warming. It may help to stop it, but not much.
The Earth is doing this. We can't stop the Earth.
Rant over.
