Everyone else's nominations were just as I expected. They mainly nominated people who joined in 2007 who have been here a while and haven't conributed or helped out.

I picked Samwesty because he contributes to the community. I also picked REVENGE because she inspires people. I didn't pick people because they can draw good. That doesn't help out the forum. It just shows that they are more talented than others. And if I'm mistaken, this is an awards for people who CONTRIBUTED. Not people who are known because they are good at drawing or they are funny to YOU.

Reading the nomination thread, here is what I realized- it's all the mods, walmartshrty, C-bass, and pjtush. I think I kay stay out of this thing entirely. Being funny and artwork is a major contributor to the forums moral, it is what keeps alot of people on here. So just because you don't draw or are funny (just like me) doesn't mean you can go ranting on people Butters.

It will happen whether there is a rule or not, some of the reasons are pretty funny though. A few I liked inparticular were "does his job", "is a cool guy". "makes art" and "breaks rules". :)

No clue who I would nominate at the moment, I'll probably just follow the trend and choose a few friends near the end.

Technically there is a "no whining" rule and whatnot, people who drag their chains and complain (or alternatively show off) might have some form of punishment coming. I haven't thought it up yet.

Just because someone is from March 2007 doesn't mean they joined on March 2007. We had forums before then, dating back to March 2006. Their original join dates did not carry over, so technically a LOT of forum veterans are making the list which is to be expected. There are some new faces in the list but you can see them being outnumbered by those who have had the time to establish themselves in the community.

edit; I'll admit some of the nomination reasons are pretty lame, but just because someone has more votes doesn't automatically put them above someone, because I noticed we have a ranking system someone typed up. If someone has more votes for making a funny image macro andis beating someone by one vote who contributed to the creation of an entire discussion forum here, then obviously the forum guy is going to be ranked higher. The tally of votes is arbitrary and applies to users of the "same type". If we get a bunch of artists with votes, then the number of votes will help organize how the artists are ranked compared to each other.

Am I the only one thinking you and some other people are taking this a tad too seriously? I mean come on, since when was us as a community voting good. (We have had nearly as good reputation as Illinois. I remember graphics contest where penguins with boobs and CP sucks artwork did pretty well and the rigged president election.). If we wanted it accurate and reliable, it would be a group of ten or more people from all sort of positions on the forums who would work out who it would go to. Also, RFS has stated that it will be in some senses rigged into some places a more 'accurate' and other places more amusing form.

Let me elaborate on this little tidbit, what was said was that the nominations are going to aid us differentiating between users of the same "type". Someone who helped cultivate an entire new forum, such as how Bsaved is being credited as keeping the RP forum alive into a permanent forum, is CLEARLY going to be above people who are simply capable of drawing funny pictures.

If we get a collection of users who are being selected for artistic merit or for popular clubs, then we are going to see which of those clubbers or artists has more nominations, and thus the guy with 7 votes will be higher than the one with 4.

It's complicated, we aren't going to present the list in "clumps" like all of the artists occupy places 56-78 or something. It will be spread out a lot better. The number of votes is one of a few things we are taking into consideration for the final presentation.

Draco selected two people who were in the Club Penguin forums of "yesterday" which is not only allowed, but encouraged as well. It's about the community of Club Penguin on Miniclip, which has stretched to two forums.

I wouldn't exactly say fake but I think it is going to be incredibly difficult to make everyone happy.

If you go strictly by votes the people who have contributed to the forum's history that only a few of us even remain from back then are going to get a lower rank than they deserve.

I saw this as a lose/lose from the start but I support Draco in trying to 'give back' to the community and am willing to help with the event as much as possible.

Explain how you consider it to be fake? We are using them in part to put users in their place on the final list.

First of all, this is all a big popularity contest and noobs are going to be whining, "wahh i didnt get picked wahh i hate you all!" like it happens in every other thing like this(Forum Fav 5, Best friend on the forums, etc.). This is definitely more of a popualrity contest to most people than it is to people a recongition for the forumers who contributed the most. The specific details of how it is even being done aren't even released. So there really is no way to tell if it is fair or not, you just assume it isn't.

Feel free to suggest a better way to do it, otherwise you don't have much room to talk.

I sort of agree. If Screenhog, Rsnail, and Hamustar did not work as hard as they did, there would be no forums, and no us. However, I thought the awards were centered on who contributes to the COMMUNITY, and the public doesn't think so.

They had more posts. I lost a couple thousand when they swept the forum once or twice. Eventually they started doing it where it wouldn't take away from our post count as well.

Back in the day when Draco would mock the CP forum rather than how he mods it now the CP staff were there and active on the forums. They did everything from helping with glitches to commenting on our ideas. They gave this forum the reputation that got it off the ground. I am one of the few people left from back then and the time that they spent on the forums in the very beginning are the true glory days of the forum.

They laid the base that this community is founded upon. You really don't understand how awesome it was to have the owners of the game right there beside you on the forums.

seriously sometimes i just think that people want votes for themselves.

look some people don't do anything just do normal posts they don't get noticed or nominated. BUT some people do art and post it and people notice them.

Besides some people just say ''i vote for__________ she/he is awesome'' atleast we have a reason.

So if you don't do art or anything else nice to contribute to the community don't expect to be noticed.

Absolutely not. We haven't decided the proper penalty for being an attention queen. We might half your total nominations, or divide them by fifty or something. Don't do it. Find five people other than yourself worth of being noticed, and if you are worth it yourself, people will pick you based on your merits.

I'll admit some of the nomination reasons are pretty lame, but just because someone has more votes doesn't automatically put them above someone, because I noticed we have a ranking system someone typed up. If someone has more votes for making a funny image macro andis beating someone by one vote who contributed to the creation of an entire discussion forum here, then obviously the forum guy is going to be ranked higher. The tally of votes is arbitrary and applies to users of the "same type". If we get a bunch of artists with votes, then the number of votes will help organize how the artists are ranked compared to each other.
I don't like revealing the "formula" that we have, but we do count more than numbers, we also count WHO the numbers came from, etc.

Pretty much affect overall ranking.

Sure, someone may have not had a stickied thread or got the most popular thread ever. But think about the personality and care for these forums, that certain forumers put into these forums to make it a community to come together and discuss Club Penguin. So really, just because they voted for the person because they're the voter's friend doesn't necessarily mean they solely voted for that reason. There may be more to it ;)

Just glancing at what we have right now, Sebastian is quite a ways up in the list of 100. Out of all of the people banned off the forums, he's the most notorious. He means well, we think, but he is just too persistent. My jokes about him haven't helped the case.

I made progress today by finally coming up with a Twilight Foundry Films production bumper today. TFT has a logo and stuff... but I didn't feel like making it - for Let's Play it displays "TWILIGHT FOUNDRY FILMS" in plain text while a 4/5 second clip of an old video of ours plays... but you'll see the "everything else" version in the video series we're making for this.

It's great, Capt Fiskers linked me to a video on YouTube and it simply called out to me to make it into a bumper. You'll see. :3
