I just caught my first shiny pokemon today! Woot! I wrote a short story poem thing blah, so read it OR ELSE!!! Not really, but yeah. I hope it's at least okay.
Darn togepi.
As if scanning through Route 230 for a togepi weren't hard enough, I chose to make it harder for myself and look for a girl togepi. Maybe I'm a little obsessive compulsive, I dunno, but I needed a girl one. I already had the boy one, Petey, rotting away in his PC until I get ready to train him. But I needed a girl, for contest. Lucas ran through the grass, with myself internally counting down the forty steps needed to charge the Poke Radar. He ran through the grass awkwardly, taking long strides that made him look as if he were running in slow-motion. I pressed the Y button, and the hypnotic, monotonous music began again. I instinctively went towards the one that shook most, although I didn't notice the difference in that patch of grass at the time.
Cut to the battle scene, the form of a Floatzel slid to the right, and I automatically cursed. Why was it never a togepi? The figure was illuminated, and it took a while for my mind to register what it saw. A sickly yellow Floatzel stood in front of Lucas's sprite, and I stayed still and tense. Only the soothing "Bliiip!" and shining specks that surrounded it snapped me out of the trance, and screamed the word "SHINY!" into my mind.
I'd seen videos of people catching them before. The pokemon would stand in full glory, and the trainer would always have a good pokemon at hand to catch it. I panicked for about half of a second in my mind before a wave of efficiency came over me. I glanced over my precious, tough Granbull's moves. Ice Fang was the weakest, however, her strength was a curse in this case. At level 84, that move, even through its type weakness, would easily KO the sacred Floatzel into virtual oblivion. I used a net ball on it, and the Floatzel sensed my stress and took advantage of it. After three shakes of the pokeball, it broke free, squealing its little Floatzel squeak, and the bell like "Bliip!" sounded again. I don't know when, but it managed to use whirlpool, leaving me stuck with my Granbull. I frowned before making Lucas toss a Quick Ball. This time, the Floatzel spared me the anxiety and escaped after one shake of the ball.
The chime of the shiny pokemon sounded, sending my heart beating frantically, "dokidokidokidoki." I shushed the sound in my mind and sent out my favorite pokeball that helped in all cases. The dusk ball swallowed the Floatzel's sprite, and one, two, three shakes. I bit my tongue. It clicked into place. Victory music. In the heat of the battle, I hadn't noticed that it was a girl. I thought of a name for it; Bella Aqua; Beautiful Waters. I grinned manically, automatically sending my Staraptor, Brad, to the nearest pokemon center. I checked its stats; she had a Rash nature. I gave her a case of Pokerus a few minutes later.
Wow, someone up there must have felt really generous today. Floatzel, a good battle pokemon, a female one, none-the-less, one that was at level 50, AND now had Pokerus. I smiled, saving the game and setting off to flaunt her to my siblings.
...Yeah, I got really excited. It was my first shiny! Weeeeeell, sorry for the bad grammar if there is any. I'm tired and can't focus!!! Thanks, y'allz. :-3
