Why not Donkey Kong?
What is so great about Pokemon that it gets its own board?

When this was made, we had like 10 threads a day
about trading/teams/and all that other pokemon stuff. But since then it hasn't
really been that big.

Pokemon has a lot more things to talk about than Mario.

I'm guessing with the sudden flood of new threads about
Pokemon caused by the release of Pokemon D/P, they
added a new forum. I see that it is put to good use since
there have been many threads constantly in it.

Almost everyone has been a Pokemon fan at one time or
another, but not so with other franchises.

Pokemon games have WiFi, so you can be on a team with other forumers and trade with them.

But pokemon has different options. You can: Trade, battle 1vs1 2vs2 and you can search for other pokemon in one of the centers. There's alot more to do.

Well, to be direct, Pokemon is a much more popular franchise
than any other Nintendo series. Video games, cards, shows,
toys, spin-offs, figurines, etc. is why it is so well known among
children young and old.

There are many topics about Pokemon, but only a few about
Mario and other game characters. The main reason there is
a Pokemon board is frankly it is put to better use that way.

Because as said before, With the release of D/P The regular Nintendo forums were being flooded with OMG HOW DOES I DO THIS?!?!!?! And then There was ZOMG LUK AT MY UBER TEAMZZZ and also OMG SOMEONE BATTLE MEH NO UBERS THO BECUZ DAT WOULD BE CHEATING.

So yes that is why This forum was created.

And as you may/may not know with the upcoming release of Pokemon Platinum, This forum will be going strong again.

Basically everyone knows about Pokemon and has somehow known about it.
A lot more people discuss it than almost any other game.

Because out of all of the gaming forums it has the most posts and the Nintendo forum simply became a place for people to talk about Pokemon and not about, you know, Nintendo stuff. Plus I had to change the limit of images per post to 6 instead of 5 because people were wanting to post their teams and stuff here. It's just insanely active, and like all very active discussion topics, it got its own forum.

Donkey Kong was a successful franchise - in the early 1990's with DKC, but it ended after that. Pokemon has a huge community, far larger than most other video games, and because of its demographic of players (young children and teenagers) most of them happen to be registered here.
