Today in the fine country of New Zealand we have surprisingly cool temperatures for summer and some much-needed rain for all those Canterbury dairy farmers. The lower temperatures will be a welcome relief to the sweltering heat being felt over the last week, with temperatures up to 36C being recorded! I live in Southwest Illinois, just for reference. Today was cold as normal, proabably around 16 degrees. Heavily cloudy skies. Winter storm warning in effect until tomorrow at 6pm. We are SUPPOSED to get 8 or so inches of snow total with today and tomorrow, yet not one flake of snow has fallen so far. We'll have to see about that. Other than that it was a pretty typical cold day.

I love the winter weather.

EDIT: Drew reporting here from the Illinois side of the St. Louis Metro-East area! We currently have about 2-3 inches of a wintry mix(mostly snow with some sleet and ice underneath) as of 10:52PM CST. Snow should be going through the night into a break in precipitation at about 7-8:30AM Tuesday and then a wintry mix into comeplete snow in the afternoon! Estimated total precipitation could range from 5-8 or more inches when it is all said and done.

Weather.com has the awesome 15 minute interval forecasts so I will kind of summary ours for the res of the night.

18 degrees with 7-8 degree varying wind chills all through the night. Snow is in the forcast all through the night again. We have so far about 5-6 inches of snow and we are supposed to get like 7 more inches tonight. =OOOOO!!!! I am guessing that we won't be having school again tomorrow. :scary: This is the most snow we've had in awhile.
