Well, my mom recently virus scanned our new computer, and it found 21 items. Automatically, she thought it was me. She started yelling at me, and said that she is going to take the computer away. The horrible thing is, I scanned the computer before I went to school, nothing was found. While I was gone, my brother went on the computer. When I got home, I automatically scanned it again. That's when the 21 items came up. So, I just wanted to say good-bye (maybe).

Wait Dragonair what antivirus do you have? I think it wasn't forum, because I haven't got any viruses yet. (I use Norton 360)
If you do leave, I just want to say you have been a good friend. Thanks for making my time on the forums fun

tell your mom that. and also, ask your brother what he went to, or view history(windows only i think...(to the left of favorites ;)))

Parents say that when they're distressed. They usually do not mean it. She might take your computer away for a day or two, but she most likey will gvie it back.

I use Webroot Spy Sweeper. Anyways, I'm glad you've had a great time. ;)

I told her, but she was just saying that I just wanted to get my brother in trouble. The sites my brother went on were Craig's List, and the Denver Broncos forums and maybe acouple others. My mom said she tried to check history, but it was blank. She thought some virus did it. All I know is, someone deleted the history.

Also, I'm gonna stay away from TIS, I don't think it is, but that might be the problem.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I have a question. Are coookies really bad? Or are they just harmless. I don't mean the cookies that you can just delete (or eat), but the cookies that the anti-virus programs find.

Cookies are small files saved on your computer by a website, to store data. It's usually common for games or password saves to make cookies, although some website makers have other ideas of what to save on your computer.
Good luck Dragonair, as I can't physically speak to your mom, you can tell here to check the history herself, but your brother could have easily deleted it.
Other than that, you can inform her that some Kirby fanatic agrees with you.

You should get a different antivirus program anyways.

Well then, I don't get why she;s making a big deal about it. All 21 of the threats found were cookies. Do you think I'll have less if I stop saving passwords, usernames etc.?

What's wrong with Spy Sweeper?

Your virus detection software is just describing them as threat because they're cookies, so you'd have to check the cookies' properties to see the actual threat.
If your mother thinks just because they appeared on the screen as such, you'd better stop saving passwords to play it safe from her.

Well, I've been thinking, she might just need to rest. She's been drinking, and I think that might be the case. Also, she already said that we are going to go buy one of those toys on the 24th, there might still be hope. :)

Well, that adds a whole new factor into the case. I'm not sure I can help with that, so just play it safe if all else fails.

Do you have the paid version of Spy Sweeper? SS says that you have spyware when you don't if you didn't pay for it.

Phew, she just went to bed. I can tell she's been drinking, her and her boyfriend got in a fight. I'm probably fine. :)

Then it's making up some of that stuff. I would suggest AVG Free Edition. You can download it here.

Just to let you know, Spy Sweeper also detects minor threats like spy cookies. Spy cookies are different from spyware.
Please don't leave Dragonair! I have hope in you

My mom works for the people who make Spy Sweeper:mad:.
Obviously, it was your brother who did it, not Webroot.

You know, There are these things called "Tracking Cookies" that are detected Malware with most Anti viruses. Your brother could of gone on a site, Got 23 or so Tracking Cookies from different ads on the site, They usually go on your computer with out your consent.
Could you tell me the names of the Viruses?

Fun. My experiences with Spy Sweeper aren't good. It helped completely screw up my old computer, and since we got rid of it I've had no problem. So...

I HIGHLY suggest getting AVG Free 8.0, search it on google, it's free. I have been using this for the past 2 years and it works great! :D Anyway, good luck! I will always remember the avvy's and sigs I made for you and will never delete 'em. :(

Oh man that's bad.. :( Anyway, try using AntiVir - it doesn't just scan and remove viruses, it takes them off your pc like you do with a pocketknife, knifing the harddisk to delete viruses. It's that good! :scary:

Well, from the name, it sounds like an Anti-Spyware program, not an Anti-Virus. That sucks. Hope you don't get it taken away. I suggest AVG 7.5, not 8.0. The reviews aren't great for it. I have used it for about a year now, its worked fine for me. You can get it here: http://oldfiles.org.uk/lightspeed/lightspeed95.html (not mine, so its not advertising, I guess) Its a trusted site. I have gotten many great things from there. When you look for AVG 7.5, its the first link in the Security section.

Where did she go to do this virus scan? If it was online, tell her it's fake. It's a website trying to get you to download their "antivirus software", because it is really a virus. I doubt you have any viruses.
