This game is indeed one of Rare's best creations. It was made by Tim Stamper, and was the first Donkey Kong game that wasn't created by Shigeru Miyamoto. Donkey Kong Country was the third best selling game for the SNES, at 9 million copies. It was one of the first games for a home video console to use pre-rendered 3D graphics, also. Many awards were given to it, and the game is a blast. I still find it fun to play.
Too bad the Stampers left Rare...

I agree, 2 and 3 weren't as fun as the first.
