Just keep messing around with it. It becomes a lot easier, and you really can do some very cool things with it. Check out this video. You can do this on Paint!

I don't know how to use GIMP!
It has so many tools, I don't know how to use them all! -_- -_- -_-

A tip is use the zoom thing to get little details and stuff

The clue is in the pixels. Zoom up to 8x and you can do anything.

Patience is the key. Shading takes time to get used to. I like to work on Pixel art, but it takes time, and practice. Start slow, and make small things.

I always thought these tutorials (http://forums.miniclip.com/showthread.php?t=31616&highlight=Paint+Tutorials) from RFS were pretty cool... But Please Do not bump those threads... Thank-You... Feel free to have a look... ;)

The Line next to the 8x is the 10x Zoom in Tool. The tiny little gray line.
