No one really pays attention to it. It doesn't really bother me. I do find it odd that the ranks don't progress in importance, or whatever as you get more posts.

Ranks are a privilige and even if some are weird they are better than no rank at all.
It would be confusing if some people had ranks and some people didnt.
Also here is a quote from the Posting ranks and staff information thread
"How do I change my rank?": You cannot change your rank aside from automatic changes from more posts. The staff can change their own rank, and we will not change your rank for you so do not ask us to.

You should be thankful 'cause rfs added the ranks. As Blingstr said, they are a priviledge.

The Ranks aren't a big deal anyways, They only reflect the amount of posts you have.

Well I don't think that you should be able to hide the, but I do agree that Iceberg rider is kind of weird, and that it is a priviledge.

Consider us lucky to have these. Before you joined, there was a big fat blank spot above of our avatar. If it bothers you so much, then you might want to consider leaving.

Post ranks really don't mean anything but the amount of posts you have. Remember quality before quantity.

...Why would you want to hide your rank? It's text, it's not going to kill you, maybe.
It's here to add a sort of "Fun" into posting, so why can't you deal with it?

The ranks aren't better than each other for a reason, so no one will spam to get a "betteR" rank. Although, i beleive that no ranks are better than these.

I can kick your post count back down to zero if you want to complain about the ranks, if that's okay with you.
