Just wondering. I remember it used to be BIG, but now I hardly ever hear about it anymore.

I remeber back in the "good ol' days" I could never get away from Pokémon, now I rarely see it... It is only on on CN 5 times a week, but in the "good ol' days" it was on every single day, like every 5 hours...

It has lost popularity for sure. When i was like 8 everynoe in my school enjoyed it. Now we never hear about it, unless its a new game commercial.

You probably don't hear about it as much because you've grown up? It is aimed for little kids.
...and I play it D:

I pity all the people who said no. Look at this news report about the movies.
Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin made more than 1 billion yen (US$9.44 million) at the Japanese box office this weekend, earning it second place, but it failed to defeat Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki's new film, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea.
Pokémon made a total of 1,018,767,450 yen (US$9,439,150), and Ponyo made 1,575,817,355 (US$14,603,071) yen over the two days included in the receipt count. Both movies debuted Saturday.
A total of 981,543 people saw the Pokémon movie, whereas Ponyo drew 1,251,107 people to the theaters.
In 2007, Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai topped the box office its opening weekend, earning about 1.13 billion yen over its first two days with a total of 1,074,000 viewers.

Same with me. And Pokemon is still on? Man, they are beating a dead horse. They are rehashing old plots.

It's on every day where I live. At least once a day.

But I have to admit, the video games are a guilty pleasure of mine.

Pokémon is still on at least 5 times a week like said. Because I think everyday around 3:30 pm it is on during the week, and maybe earlier in the morning or on weekends so I don't know. But it is about "Diamond & Pearl" so it is not that great because Ash just walks around, gets a Pokémon stolen from Team Rocket, and then uses somebody to cut the balloon and get his Pokémon back.:|
But anyway about popularity, at my school, I guess it is "uncool" to play Pokémon because older graders peoples :| come and laugh if your playing Pokémon. You know like sometimes I get addicted to a game again like Yellow and I slap it in my GB SP and play it at school. Then some people laugh at say dumb things like "Do you have a pikamonchu?"
And I am like "Yes, I have a PikaCHU" Then they walk away because of my superior Pokémon skills are too much for them.

Pokemon isn't popular anymore because we grew up sure. I'd say the pokemon games are still pretty popular and you can still enjoy them at any age. But pokemon on tv is pretty boring. All I see in pokemon on the TV is : Walking, Talking, Short Battle, Happy End. That's basically the plot, that's pretty boring and because of that not many people like Pokeyman[Like me]. But, back than when I was 5 or 6 and Pokemon Red came out almost everyone in my Neighborhood tried to catch'em all.

I dont think its because we grew up. If that was the case, Star Wars would have been dead a LONG time ago. Its because it got way to popular, and people grew tired of it.

Usually after so many games, they lose their popularity.

Still still pretty "cool", but only towards a certain audience, which you've grown out of.

I would agree with that. But to anyone older than ten, Pokemon is not "cool". At least, that's what it's like where I live.

Definately. Every body at my school used to be crazy about it around 9 or 10 years ago. But now I am probably the only one at my school that likes it.
I prefered it when it was the origional 150 (or 151 if you include Mew - I still remember ;))

Look at ash's voice at the battle frontier episodes and the rise of darkraim they don't sound like the original. I think the old ones were better =). Some people at my school play it to communicate with people around the world, or just use voice chat.

What I find hilarious is that Ash is supposed to be a teenager, and still has a high pitched voice.
