First off, this IS a rant thread. If you are a Rap fanboy. You are NOT wanted here. Get out. And stay out, while your at it, listen to better music.

As an opening statement, I'd like to say this: Why is our music today so horrible? Rap, "Emo", "Death Metal"?. While I do recognize these as music, they suck. Horribly. I'll list why below.

Rap: This is what gets me the most. 90% of Rap, is pure, and UTTER TRASH, and you are no better for buying it. Honestly, almost anyone can make a rhyme. I'm not going to stereotype rap. But it's trash. Poor skill, effort, and most of it is sending a bad message to you Americans \o/. 1/100 Rap songs are actually talent.

Metal: Ok, credit to the instrument players, but screaming into the microphone just takes endurance of your vocal chords. Which almost anyone can aquire

"Emo": This, out of my rant, is what I classify as annoying. The music isnt always bad, the lyrics and the singing suck. Take Fall Out Boy for example. They can play instruments very well, but they fail when it comes to singing. DONT EVEN TRY TO ARGUE AGAINST THAT.

Where did the good bands go (rhetorical)? **** Dale? Lynyrd Skynyrd? Led Zepplin? The Police? Boston? Foo Fighters(well, they're still around)? The Allman Brothers, and Kansas? Those bands, were what actually made music good. Not the **** they have out now. Why did all that talent end up as nothing? As what our music is now? Music today is just all recordings made "prettier" in a recording studio. True music, is what I'll list below.

Lynyrd Skynyrd (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsWz-Q7JYQA)
**** Dale (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nvn-8_uO8fY)
Led Zepplin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaQCirSxnvg)
The Police (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpc69oAnDxY)
Foo Fighters (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pd_p1A7WVNs)
Boston (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHV3DSua3DU)
Allman Brothers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfM6nRVBvGs)
Kansas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB17uWuBrL0)
Guns N Roses (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siBoLc9vxac)

You may know some of these songs from the game "Guitar Hero". While Guitar Hero is a fun game, I'm mad because these songs are so different from the game. The game (While I do think it's fun) takes little skill. Music like this is barely appreciated anymore. Instead, we have music like Rap flooding the world. Wheres the talent? Wheres the Skill? Wheres the good music? Worse of all, we have people buying the crappy music, so they make more of the crappy music. It's like crab grass.

Hopefully some of you still listen to REAL music.

I agree with you.

Todays music is so extreme.
in a not good way.

I like all those bands you listed and I think rap needs to have
better messages with less cr@p

I agree 1000000.9%. Rap is the worst music in the world. Metal people scream into the mic and emo is to depressing. Whatever happened when everyone listened to rock or rap wasn't all about how much drugs, girls, or money some guy has. I can't stand rap.

Yeah,

I like music that is happy and has a message.

Hardly any bands/groups/singers today provide that.

I want the good old days when a band hadd fun instead of just caring about money.

you should watch cribs.

Rappers are overated

I personally don't care on what genre of music people sing (or rap) about. They all give a message, (well, maybe except for some rap songs.) I respect all of those who, spend time and work to give the future leaders of tomorrow something to stive on.

Yes, but how did we get this...trash from what great music really was? Are people truly blind to what is great music? Rap does give a message, I'm just fed up with how it's affecting everyone. It's even hitting us here in Poland....POLAND. A country with thousands of years of history and culture changed in about 5 years (curse you communism) because of rap. What do people find so good in rap? The lyrics? The beat?

Want to hear a joke? Rap.

What ever happened to good music? Rap came along. It pushed everything out of it's way and pushed to the top. Rappers should get paid $1.00 for each song, yet they get paid $1,000,000,000 per song. You can't understand a thing they're saying. I totally agree with you.

Yes, the music in the old days did have a much deeper meaning in the music industry, such as "american pie", no, not the movie, yet songs that are serious do have deeper meanings to it. Speak your views on rapping and other music all you want, but I doubt it will change the views on others, just a thought.

I agree with you 100% but we cant make people stop listenting to the music they like. If they want to waste their time listetning to Rap and miss out on listetning to real music thats their problem and we cant help it. I think anybody could rap all it is, is rhyming to a beat. Our modern day society is preety pathetic.

Well, I listen to rap.

This whole thread is all based on OPINION.

I agree with the Death Metal and Emo music. I can not stand it!
Though you do not see me complaining about it

I just do not listen to it!

If you like those old bands, well then, just keep listening to them.
Music is changing every year and is not going to keep the same.

I AGREE WITH YOU 100%... and i hate kids that try to imitate these bad influences!!!!!

thats why my fav singer is MARIAH CAREY... shes a good inspirator!!!... she writes songs with meaning... and i can relate to her and all that because like her im half brown and half white... everything she says she is so me!!... although she has alot of love songs... that aint really me...

i dont really know old rock songs so i have no idea... just these days with rap...death metal...emo music... they really suck!!... i just listen to rnb some rock and i even like some of the 90s songs... since my childhood was in the 90s...

I agree with you. Everyone is listening to rap these days! It is INSANE! It sucks bad it takes over people's minds and it is destroying music. It is all you hear these days. Old bands like Guns N Roses etc I liked. They are heaps good. But they quit music, retired, or too old to play music now. But if they came back ( By the way I'm not just talking about Guns N Roses, I'm talking about other old bands ) Anyway If they came back no-one would listen to them because rap is taking over. Rap should be hit by a milktruck!

You either like a kind of music, or you don't.
It's all opinions.
You may think that a type of music is terrible, but other people don't.
I'm tired of all these "I hate (Type of music)" threads.
Keep your opinions to yourself.

I agree with you on Rap, and some of your emo opinion.

Me, hating rap music more then anything in the world, understand what you're saying. Did my speech in English this year on why Rap music sucks.

Not all emo music is bad, you see. Yea, I hate the more popular emo bands like Fall Out Boy, but you can find good emo music. Good lyrics, good instruments, and good singing. But, it can be hard to find. I'm not a huge fan of emo, but I used to be.

Metal, as I like to call screamo, is amazing. The instruments are incredible, especially the drums. Hard to find that good drumming in other kinds of music. I like the screaming in screamo music, I think it sounds good. I just think of it as another instrument. But, in order for a screamo song to be good, it has to have SOME singing in it, which a lot of it does. (Silverstein, Underoath, Atreyu, Alexisonfire, etc.)

I am a fan of a lot of new-er music, like Reel Big Fish, Muse, Silverstein, Underoath, etc. but I also love Classic rock, like the stuff you listed, and do wish that music was still, like, around. But, if you like it so much, you can still listen to it, it's not like people are FORCING you to listen to rap. I just don't watch music channels, and listen to the radio. Just get the music you like, and listen.

This isn't all "I hate Rap", because I don't hate all Rap. Notice how I say things like "most rap" "1/100 songs". Plus, If we were all to keep opinions to ourselves, the worldwould be a much worse place than it already is. I can tell by your profile that you like rap. Why?

I just like the way the music goes together.
The beat, lyrics, it's just a fun type of music.
I agree that most of it is bad, most rap on the radio is terrible.

I'm not saying I don't like rock either.
I like A7X, Sum41, Blink182 and bands like that.
That kind of rock is fun.

I half-agree, half-don't.

I hate rap. It's boring. I find absolutely no enjoyment in it. I want it OUT! I have no rap on my MP3 player, and never plan to. It's perverse, druggy, and boring music.

Emo: I don't actually mind it. I like some emo bands. Fallout Boy isn't too bad, and neither is Weezer. They have catchy songs and catchy lyrics. But there's some emo bands that I can't stand, Panic! At The Disco, MCR, and others.

Metal/Screamo: Like emo, I don't mind metal too much. It's one of those kinds of music where you don't listen to a lot of a band. Story of The Year has a good song called "And the Hero will drown". It has screaming, but it also has singing. Good singing.

Classic Rock is the greatest thing ever! From Lynard Skynard to Rush to Van Halen to Guns 'n' Roses to Bachman Turner Overdrive to Dire Straits to The Who to The Clash, I love classic rock. The songs are songs you can listen to over and over again, because of the talent. The guitar is good, the drums are good, everything is good! But I don't just listen to Classic Rock, I listen to a variety of rock. I listen to U2, The Wallflowers, Sum41, Billy Talent, and others. I am open to most kinds of rock.

Ok, I like Rap because I just grew up around It and It pretty much stuck to me now. But I do agree With the Emo and "Screaming Into a Microphone Rock"

-Emo Sometimes gets weird at times and the singing can get real bad

-Hard rock, sometimes you can barely understand what they are saying when they are "Screaming Into the microphone"

I gree with about about 2/3

This is EXACTLY what I think of rap, emo, etc. I hate today's band and everyone nowadays are all posers. I see kids that have their pants below their freaking knees. WHAT THE HELL?!?!? Then they ask me, "why are your shorts so high up?" and I reply, "well, I'm not a poser..."... Everyone out there in today's music have no talent. Rappers, they can't do anything. The kids in my school actually think they're all cool because they are like "YO MUH DAWG IM GUNNA **** U AZZ!!!"... pathetic. Emo music, jeez, it makes me want to make my ears bleed. Take Panic! At The Disco for example. Sure they have a nice rhythm but their lyrics suck and dress all emo. Music these days are probably 60% of the reason for 18 and under deaths. Rap portrays kids to bring guns to places and stab people. Emo music makes people cut themselves now. I wish it was back in the 70's and 80's. Though my post may create flame wars, this is what I think of all music these days...
