Some people buy the newest games, actually they pre-order them, to have fun with what the latest technology can give. I am, well, a little bit old fashioned regarding games.
I sometimes play games like Destruction Derby 2, Carmageddon, or Quake! I am actually impressed by the hard work those people used to do, because, at those times, as some people might well know, there wasn't any special 3d software. This has one reason.
At those times people didn't have any nifty pieces of software with which to work with. They used to use complicated programs to function a set of pixels in 2d, to which people called "a car", for example.
These are some examples.

Carmageddon (1997) There is a bit of gore, that's why it isn't displayed as a pic... err... a 2d cow run over by 3 other semi-3d cars...

One of the best games in the whole world - Quake! I'm not joking in saying that this game is better than Halo: Combat Evolved!!

One of the best classics - Need for Speed 2 SE
I've given you some personal opinion about these games, now, I want to go to my main criteria. Does anybody know any good ol'e games? What I actually desire is from the 90's period! Below, you will find a list of functioning old games I own. These games work perfectly on my Vista basic! :D
Carmageddon
Destruction Derby 2
Grand Theft Auto (the first and original one!)
Need for Speed 2 SE
Quake
The Need for Speed
Exitebike
Earthworm Jim (1 & 2)

Destruction Derby 2 is awesome. End of. I loved playing it. I seriously want that HD pack.
Carmageddon had to be censored, because originally the goal of the game was to run over people for points. They changed it to zombies. Bit of a difference if you ask me.

Actually there are three ways to end the game in Carmageddon;
-Complete the normal track (boring... and very easy)
-Destroy all other cars (it's like bumping cars, although the engine gets blown after a bit of crashes)
-Kill EVERYONE!
Oh btw, I've got the run-over-people version... I've read about the zombie one on wikipedia

A good classic game for the Nintendo 64 is Road Rash.

Descution Derby 64 whoops the 2nd one for the PS1. Need for speed II kicked butt. It still beats out some of the new games I have. Goldeneye:007 was the best 1st person shooter of all time.

Destruction Derby got a lot of flack because on some modes it was insanely difficult. Personally I did not mind, and DD64 is one of the BEST games I have played on that console. Back when we were organizing online N64 tournaments and stuff, the final vote came down to DD64 and Super Smash Bros, SSB ended up winning but still, out of 16 games it was narrowed down to those two. :P
EDIT: I own Sammy Stephen's Mini Mall EP disc.

The zombie version was released in the UK I believe, there were different restrictions on it in other countries.

Jeez man! You're right! I was trying to do a destruction tournament (i've forgotten the actual name...)
Anyways, you are situated in a huge bowl, and your aim is to try and destroy every other car, but the other cars keep bashing me to death!! They hit me so hard against the wall that you fly off like 4 stories sometimes, while the other 20 cars keep on bashing with themselves right underneath me to have a turn to kill me to death!!
Oh, and then there is the radiator! If you hit other cars / walls violently, the radiator gets wasted, and after you run around bashing someone else, after a bit, the engine blows up! Grrrrrrr....
Stock car racing is the best thing in the game! ;)
A good classic game for the Nintendo 64 is Road Rash.
I've just been searching on the game on wiki...
Road Rash was highly innovative in the fact that it introduced a smoothly-rendered vertical element to road racing. In most traditional older racing games, the player's vehicle remained on the same horizontal plane, negotiating turns essentially by going right or left (see Pole Position). In Road Rash, players had to contend with grade changes, and the physics, though rudimentary compared to today's games, reflected the act of going up or down a hill, as well as turning while climbing, etc. This resulted in the ability to launch one's motorcycle great distances, resulting in often amusing crash animations
Now that sound awsome, with roads leading uphill and the such! I cannot believe what I'm actually saying... I mean, you modern gamers, you'll call me nuts! :P

Who cares?! As long as I've got the non-zombiefied version of the game I'm cool! xD

No, that isn't the game I'm talking about. The game I am talking about is on the Nintendo 64 and is alot more fun than whatever game wikipedia is describing.
I will search for the real game and post back here when I find it

Sorry if I'm bumping an old thread, but I've got the bomb of old gaming! It's a game from 1999, MUCH better than Quake1, and this game might be better than any other game, with the coolest enemy programming at the time. Online, this game has still got around 400 servers! That's more than Halo: Combat Evolved, as usually I find around 40 servers max. This game can even let you have custom maps, which is very good!
It's Unreal Tournament. A lot of people might know about how big this game was at the time (it's still big nowadays for Christ's sake!!) Whoever has got a good internet connection and a copy of this game, I would like to meet you and blast your head off with a Flak Cannon... huhuhuhu!

Yeah, those are nice games! I love those pixels/sprites that game has! I think that is what made the game so much poplular, together with good gameplay, obviously! :P I'll see where I can get myself working copies of this game! ;)

Yeah, it was a old arcade game, if you have a 360, you can buy it off the arcade!
Also, i remember the game for the old xbox, where if you completed the third game, you unlocked this minigame called fat island! Where every time you kill a soldier they drop loads of food!
H-I-L-L-A-R-I-O-U-S-!
and yeah, theres been loads of remakes, ever seen that commander game on miniclip?! Yeah...

Hey, I have just found an Abandonware of this game on a website (sorry, I cannot post it here!), all I need is a Neo-geo emulator, and then we can play this game! Seems fun from what I've read on the internet!
Oh btw, yeah, the miniclip vesion sucks big time!

Driver is the best game there, after Quake! About Driver, that last level, where you had to carry a pres I think, that was a real BIG pain, I mean, you have got a car which is slower than a wheelchair, and the police keep on respawning every second, bashing you 24/7, and you have got to take the Pres from one side to the other without getting your car wrecked!
Now how fair is that? Nevermind... one of the best old game on earth IMO!

I buy a lot of old games for my N64 and NES. I also bought a Super Nintendo not to long ago and only bought a couple of games so far. Does anyone have any suggestions on which SNES games to buy next?
I have:
Super Mario Kart
Mario Paint
Kirby's Dream Cource
Kirby's Avalanche
Ms. Pac Man
Super Mario World
Donkey Kong Country
and a couple others I think.

Driver on the PC is so much better. NFS:HS is a great game on the PS1 and the PC. Gran Turismo 2 is better. GTA was pretty fun. This best old game is San Fransisco Rush 2049.

My friend and I played it for hours on the PS2. It will give you fun forever.
They made it for the Dreamcast, N64, and the PS2 for the Midway Arcade Treaures 3.
Anyone here play Flight Simulator 95? Or Midtown Madness? Both great games.
