Simon Cowell announced earlier that he will threaten to quit if Sanjaya continues to keep going every round becaause of his hair. Simon is furious and stated that he will not let American Idol be turned into a joke.

Washington: The success of Indian-American Sanjaya Malakar in the popular show American Idol has generated a lot of heat here with one of the judges threatening to quit if he wins the crown. Some media reports have also suggested that Malakar has reached the final 10 of the competition more for his youth appeal and being of Indian descent than his singing talent. He has interesting hair. This much, everyone seems to agree on. But, for the most part, that’s where the praise for the youngest Idol contestant ends. “Even though he has yet to deliver a convincing performance in the live competition, he continues to stave off elimination, much to the shock of the Idol judges and sometimes even Malakar himself,” a write-up posted on the AOL TV Web site said. One of the theories floating around is that of the support he is getting from radio jockey “Howard Stern. He has been advising his fans to vote in jest for the first contestant of Indian descent to make it into the show’s top 10. “Sanjaya Malakar is getting a boost from all of the employees in India whose jobs were outsourced by US phone companies,” Stern claims. Simon Cowell, one of the judges in the competition, has even threatened to resign if Malakar is the winner.
