I am doing some data collection today, and I think this project could possibly use the data when I'm done. I have completed 12 of twelve tests. This is how it works:

Test 1: Throughout the day, I will stand in the middle of some well-known rooms wearing all my rarest clothes and dancing while screaming "I AM FAMOUS AND RARE!!!!!".Then I record the number of buddy requests. Then after five minutes doing that I will log off, log back on to a non-member account, and, wearing or saying nothing, dance in the same place as I did before. I will then compare the amount of non-member buddy requests to the amount of requests I got as a snooty member(meaning this particular member was snooty, not all members are snooty). I will do this 6 different times spread evenly throughout the day at different servers, countries, and rooms.

This is the non-member discrimination test.

These are the results of test 1.A.:
Time(in PST):3:02 AM(6:02 A.M. U.S. eastern, 10:02 A.M. GMT)
Country: America
Server: Mammoth
Room: The Dock (in the middle)
member requests: 14
non-member requests: 0

You can already tell the drastic difference between member and non-member. This particular test was taken extremely early in the morning, especially for the country I was in, so there is
little telling what it will be like later in the day. I could get up to 20 buddy requests as a member, in my estimation, and might still get little to none as a non-member.

Test 1.B.:
Time (in PST):5:30 A.M.(8:30 A.M. U.S. eastern, 12:30 A.M. GMT)
Country: United Kingdom
Server: Deep Freeze
Room: Plaza
Member request rate: 11 requests
Non-member request rate: 2 requests

This test showed a difference of 9 requests. That is sad.

These are the results for test 1.c.:
Time (in PST):7:30 A.M.(10:30 A.M. U.S. eastern, 3:30 P.M. GMT)
Country: Australia
Server: Big Surf
Room: Snow Forts
Member requests: 2
Non-member requests: 1

This one I feel would show a larger difference if done in a more popular location. But it is no coincidence that I got more as a member.

Here are the results for test 1.d.:
Time (in PST):11:30 A.M.(3:30 P.M. U.S. eastern, 7:30 P.M. GMT)
Country: Canada
Server: Glaicer
Room: Forest
Member requests: 4
Non-member requests: 1

This definitely showed an expected outcome.

Test 1.E.:
Time: 1:30 P.M.
Country: U.S.
Server: Iceberg
Room: Night Club
Member requests: 6
Non-member requests: 0

This one showed a difference of 6. As a lonely non-member I was ignored, in a time where I needed a friend much more than some arrogant member with people following them like puppies.

Test 1.F.:
Time: 5:00 P.M.(9:00 P.M. U.S. eastern, 1:00 A.M. GMT)
Country: U.K.
Server: Frozen
Room: Dock
Member requests: 9
Non-member requests: 0

The results speak for themselves.

Test 2: I will record the number of negative comments found over a span of 5 minutes in the selected area. This test will be done 6 evenly spread times throughout the following 12 hours.

This is the bullying test.

Here are the results for test 2.A.:
Time(in PST):4:00 A.M.(7:00 A.M. U.S. eastern, :00 A.M. GMT)
Country: Canada
Server: North Pole
Room: Town
Negative comments: 3

I saw this girl during this test saying "Any member guys?". I walked up, disguised as a non-member and said" I'm not a member but I am a guy looking for someone special (I actually wasn't though; I just wanted to see her reaction).
She said "Sh ut up lo ser" and ran away. I proceeded to chase her around the island frantically while she put on mean faces. I counted that as two negative comments, including the "Sh ut up lo ser" and the mean faces like this one this one and this one .

Here are the results for test 2.B.:
Time (in PST):6:00 A.M.(9:00 A.M. U.S. eastern, 1:00 P.M. GMT)
Country: Australia
Server: South Pole
Room: Ski Village
Negative comments: 0!

No negative comments were recorded!

These are the results for test 2.C.:
Time (in PST):8:00 A.M.(11:30 A.M. U.S. easter, 2:30 P.M. GMT)
Country: United Kingdom
Server: Big Surf
Room: Cove
Negative Comments: 8

This test had an extremely large amount of negative comments. There was one couple that oh so generously contributed 6 of them including: "What's your problem?", "Leave! Go Away weirdo!", and "Oh no, its you again!" plus many more. This was a test that truly showed just how bad bullying is.

Here are the results for test 2.D.:
Time: 1:30 P.M.(4:30 P.M. U.S. eastern, ?GMT)
Country: U.S.
Server: Grizzly
Room: Beach
Negative Comments: 3

Here they are:
"u r ogly"
" I only talk to kool penguins"
"im a hunk ur not"

Test 2.E.:
Time: 4:30 P.M.( 8:30 P.M. U.S. eastern, 12:30 A.M. tomorrow GMT)
Country: Canada
Server: Great White
Room: Dojo
Negative comments: 1

There was one very bad comment:
"Duh, you stupid *censored*"

Test 2.F.:
Time: 5:30 P.M.(9:30 PM U.S. eastern, 1:30 AM tomorrow GMT)
Country: Australia
Server: Outback
Room: Town
Negative comments:1

"u r not hot"

Statistics(per half hour):
Negative comments:16
Member's buddy requests: 46
Non-member's buddy requests: 4
Difference: 42

ALL THE TESTS ARE NOW COMPLETED AND POSTED.

Well that is not really due to bullying. It is due to people being obnoxious and wanted to add "rare" people so they seem as if they have accomplished something.

I agree with Sgt Peppers. Just because some one doesn't ask you or add you that doesn't mean you are being bullied. Chasing someone around is just weird.

Not adding people is not bullying in my mind

"u r ogly"

"im a hunk ur not"

Enlighten me, what defines an ugly or hunky penguin? Everyone is the same body type on CP.

"u r not hot"

This has some truth in it, temperature-wise, becuase CP is set in Antarctica. But in the other sense, it has no truth whatsoever.

I have something to make clear: I don't think not adding someone is bullying. That has nothing to do with bullying. Test two is about bullying. Test one shows how arrogant penguins get friends while lonely penguins don't, when they actually need a friend.

I think that to get accruate results, put on CURRENT clothes on your member. Because this is a test to see if it's a regular member vs non-member discrimination. It's not a rare member vs non-member thingy.

Foosa805
14 May 2008, 12:13 AM
I agree with Greenday partially because it is true more people add the members with older clothes.
I also think you should change the rareness part in the first paragraph to old since rareness dosent matter.

gobob789
14 May 2008, 12:13 AM
But most arrogant members wear rare clothes. It is showing that arrogance gets you friends in CP, which is bad.

Foosa805
14 May 2008, 12:16 AM
Thats what Im talking about, I and most other people on these forums belive that there is no such thing as "rarenesssssssssssssss" in CP. I think you should change that to old.

gobob789
14 May 2008, 12:20 AM
I didn't say there is such a thing as rareness. I just know that most people in CP have this theory that old clothes are so special, so they flood you with billions of buddy requests.

greenday6199
14 May 2008, 12:25 AM
But this is a non member discrimination test. You just want to see if a regular member will get more requests then a regular non member.

gobob789
14 May 2008, 12:26 AM
Not exactly. I was also kind of testing arrogance vs. humility too.

Also, I spent 7 hours on this. I can't redo it now.

Yes, but it doesn't have to be about popularity in a game. Your test was not judged on bullying, it was judged on rather penguins would add the "rare" penguin or "newb" penguin.

Yelling and posting in CAPS while you have Underlined-Bold red doesn't support your cause to stop bullying.

I HATE when people ask to be your buddies just because of your older clothes! It's annoying! Like when I wear the purple floppy hat and pink princess dress and wings, I get many more friend requests than usual! It's drives me crazy becuase I open up a different window for 15 seconds and when I come back there's six friend request waiting for me from Noob Mcnoobykin III, along with a bunch of postcards saying "be my buddy" ! :shout:

I just re-registered my account, my other 1,300 + posts have gone into cyberspace. I don't support this anti-bullying but I certainly don't support bullying in an online game.

So what your saying is, don't wear "rare" clothes on Club penguin or you arrogant? :|

Wearing rare things doesn't make you arrogant. Publicly announcing it does.

Arrogant members wear rare clothes? Don't you think you are being stereotypical there? I mean some members that had like a year subscription have old clothes because they do. That does not mean they are arrogant at all. I am not a member and in my opinion I have not seen a lot of bullying around in Club Penguin. Maybe once or twice but do you really need to look at just the negativity in Club Penguin? You can always look at the people that are constantly helping others and want to. You can't stereotype members to all be bad and non-members to be good. Newer members are awed at the site of a member since they look a lot better than Non-Members, do you not think this is a major influence as to why you get more messages for friends on a member than a non-member.

I almost never add more friends (I'm non-member) but I do check out who is adding me at least. I would say that completely new members add me the most since they like the cool things I wear and I look like a member to them (since they don't know the difference yet.) So it's not about being arrogant or popular or anything. Because older penguins don't want random buddies, instead they want actual friends.

Kyps

Edit: You kinda answered part of it up top there sorry. But most members don't just say "Oh look at me, I have clothes that are from February and you don't." I have never seen anybody do that. I see more Non-Members bragging about really old items. I hardly see old members bragging about old member items. It's actually non-members bragging about old free rare items instead :p

Game Lord
14 May 2008, 06:35 AM
Just what "rare" items did you put on? You get more buddy requests just by being a member, but a member will a few normal clothes will get only a few buddy requests more than a non-member, whereas a beta tester, member or not, will get way more requests. We can only take the results of Test 1 into account if you tell us what clothes exactly you put on.

Yours sincerely,
Game Lord

I did not stereotype anyone. I have been extremely careful not to do that. I said most arrogant members wear rare clothes. That is different from saying most members that wear rare clothes are arrogant. Like I said publicly announcing that your clothes are rare is arrogant.
