Here is a stor I wrote. Ignore the weird signs because they came up when I copied and pasted them off word. It is called: The Legend Of The Gild Children
There once lived a ten year old orphan called Jordan. He lived on his own. He didn’t have an idea how his parents had died, his teacher had told him that they had died in a car crash. He didn’t believe her, it was just the way she had said it. He needed to know how his mum and dad had died. But how could he find out? Go to his bedroom and look at some old photos? That’s exactly what he did.
One summer day Jordan decided to look at some old photos of his parents. He started with older photos and ended with new ones. There were photos of when his parents were kids and when they were adults, photos of them at the beach and photos of them at the park. The last photo he looked at was a family photograph that was next to his bed. But it had something white underneath it. A NOTE! FROM HIS PARENTS! Dear Jordan, Go to the park at 7:00pm. Love from Mum and Dad. P.S: Help is at the front door.
Suddenly the door bell rang!
Jordan ran down the stairs thinking about who will be at the front door: A police man, his old dog or a fire fighter. When he got down the stairs and opened the door he discovered that it wasn’t any of them. It was something strange. It was a human with a triangle head, triangle hands and triangle feet. He was very strange but he could speak English, “Hello,” he said, “My name is Sandsae. Your mother and father sent me before they died.”
“What are you?” Jordan asked.
Sandsae replied, “A human being.”
“What!”
“I said that I am a human being.”
“But you have got triangle feet, hands and a triangle head.”
“OK let me explain. I am from a parallel universe. Your mother and father knew me. Proof is in the photo.” Sandsae held up an identical note to the one Jordan had read just two minutes earlier.
“Just check in the background of the photo,” Sandsae said. Just as Sandsae had said there was a triangular shaped head in the background.
“OK. Let me get this straight,” Jordan said as he and Sandsae left for the park, “You are a human but you aren’t a human like me.”
“That is correct,” Sandsae replied.
Not really understanding what to think, Jordan just realised he had to trust Sandsae.
]There were lots of people at the park, some tall, some short, some fat, some thin and some staring at Sandsae, probably wondering why his head was a triangle. But Sandsae had told Jordan to ignore them. So Jordan did just that, ignored them. Jordan then saw something strange. Behind every child, not behind any of the adults, was some white mist. Jordan was very peculiar about this mist so he asked Sandsae about it.
“What mist?” Sandsae replied.
“The mist I just saw behind the children.”
“That is the Gild. Gild is the mist of The Gild Children. Every one of The Gild Children has a Gild.”
“Why are The Gild Children all here?”
“I don’t know,” said Sandsae and then suddenly there was an earthquake. But none of The Gild Children moved a muscle, everyone else did. At that moment Jordan and the rest of The Gild Children realised that they were a Gild Child.
There were eight Gild Children and all of them felt strange after the earthquake, like they weren’t on Earth anymore. All of the other children were still there. It was the atmosphere that felt different, it was a cold atmosphere. They all soon realised that it was another planet. Jordan was the first to
talk, “We are The Gild Children,” he said, “I’ve never heard of Gild Children before, so we must be the first ones. We must have some sort of job to do."
One of the girls said, “Don’t we need a leader?”
Jordan said, “Let’s have a vote to decide who the leader will be, first we need everyone’s name.”
There were four boys, including Jordan, called Paul, Will and Daniel, there were four girls called Lucy, Chloe, Sophie and Marisa.
When everyone knew everyone else’s names Jordan said, “No voting for yourself and only one vote each. Who votes for Paul?” One hand shot up.
“Who votes for Daniel?” One hand flew up.
“Lucy?” Two hands went up.
“Will?” One hand went to the air.
“Marisa?” No votes were given.
This pattern continued: Sophie and Chloe each got no votes. However, Jordan got three votes.
The girl who had spoke before, Lucy, said, “Jordan is our leader.”
All of The Gild Children explored the planet together. They soon found human life and the humans were just like Sandsae. Jordan wondered whether he would find Sandsae and some of The Gild Children remembered Sandsae from the park. Others thought they looked mad. They soon found the Mayor and he told them that he had been waiting for them. He also asked them who the leader was.
Jordan replied, “I am the leader.”
“Well, do you know where you are?” the Mayor asked.
“All we know is we aren’t on our planet.”
“That is correct but there is one more detail. Where we are now, it is where your planet’s sun is. It isn’t hot like your sun; it is the exact opposite, cold.”
“Why are we here?” Jordan asked the Mayor of the cold sun.
“Because you need to help us make a tunnel that will make stop any of the planets from being destroyed.”
“How long have you been waiting for us?”
“Since; Professor Lollop invented this.” The Mayor took a giant cloth off something and a strange machine appeared.
“You are probably wondering what this is,” The Mayor said, “Well it is a machine that says the exact time until every planet is destroyed. All you have to do is press this button.” As he was saying: button, he pointed at a big red button. Then he pressed it. On a screen, on the machine, green digital-looking writing came up saying: 4 DAYS 6 HOURS 23 MINUTES 39 SECONDS UNTIL ALL THE PLANETS END.
“So, how big does this tunnel have to be?” Jordan asked.
“Well there is a button in the middle of this planet and the only way to get there is by a tunnel. If you press that button, none of the planets will get destroyed. Understand?”
“All we have to do is dig a tunnel?” Jordan asked very curiously.
“No, you don’t just have to dig a tunnel. First you have to find out exactly where the button is by solving this,” Then the Mayor held up a piece of paper with some writing on it. “This is a puzzle that has baffled us ever since the day Professor. Lollop invented the machine over there. It just appeared from nowhere. And on the back it says The Gild Children can solve this, in writing so tiny that we needed a magnifying glass to read it.” Then, the Mayor handed Jordan the paper.
The Gild Children were told by the Mayor where some shelter was and when they arrived at the building they discovered it was a plain white house with no furniture, but furniture appeared when they wanted some. So they got a chair, sat on it and then read the puzzle. It said: Your leader’s parents have died, but where and who killed them? The first letters are the co-ordinates in the book
ATLAS: OUR PLANET. Jordan now knew that he would find out how his parents had died and that if he didn’t, all of the planets wouldn’t exist anymore.
All of the other Gild Children were asking Jordan whether he knew how his parents had died.
The answer they got was, “No.”
“How are we meant to find out how Jordan’s parents died?” Sophie asked.
“Ask people?” Will said.
“We would have to ask people on our planet because these people would have figured the puzzle out by now if they knew. We’ll also have to ask these people how to get to our planet. Let’s ask the Mayor now,” Jordan said. So that is what they did.
The Gild Children went to the Mayor’s house and saw someone else in there with him. It was a man. The Gild Children listened to their conversation.
“Do you think The Dumb Children will discover the answer to our clue?” the man said.
“No! Of course! Not!” As if the idiots will even know what it means,” said the Mayor.
“This is wrong,” Jordan thought, “This is not the Mayor I knew when I was younger.”
“Let’s go outside,” Jordan whispered to all the other Gild Children.
“Why have you brought us outside?” Daniel asked Jordan very curiously.
“Well, I just thought that that Mayor is not the real Mayor because I had a flash back. When I was young my Mum and Dad took me here and the Mayor said that the Mayor never changes. He was a lot kinder than this. So, I think that it is an imposter that gave us the clue and is talking right now,” answered Jordan. “I think we are really here to save the Mayor and in saving the Mayor the planets won’t be destroyed.”
“First-class thinking there, Jordan,” Marisa complimented.
The Gild Children all walked into the Mayor’s house and started talking to the fake Mayor “Who is this other man,” Jordan asked.
“What other man?” said the fake Mayor.
“The one that isn’t here!” Jordan said sarcastically.
“I don’t know who he is and I don’t know how he got here,” said the fake Mayor.
“Well off that topic,” Jordan said, “Can we see around your house.”
“No, of course you can’t, there are valuable treasures that you could break and then my house would be a mess and you would have to pay me. You probably don’t have any money.”
“No we don’t have any money,” all of The Gild Children said quietly and dropped their heads at the same time.
“Go back to your house NOW!” screamed the fake Mayor, “NOW!” The Gild Children went to their white cube house.
The Gild Children had a long conversation once they got back to their house.
“We’ll have to sneak into the Mayor’s house to find him. It’s obvious that the fake Mayor is hiding the Mayor but where in his house is he hiding him.”
“It’s got to be near the entrance because he would have let us in for a bit and then kicked us out,” said Lucy with countless certainty.
“That is true but we still need to know the way around the building and he could have set some traps,” said Jordan.
“There is one way. We could go to sleep and have a dream, sometimes dreams come true,” suggested Marisa.
“That’s a good idea,” said Jordan. So they all got a bed each and had different dreams.
In the morning when all of The Gild Children woke up, the only person that had had a dream about the Mayor’s house was Will.
So, Will told them all about his dream, “There are three traps: a net near the beginning, some spikes in the middle and a giant hole at the end but I didn’t dream about the way around so we will just have to guess.”
“We still need to figure out a plan to get in to the house and we also still need to work out a time to get in the house,” said Jordan.
“But how?” asked Marisa.
“The best time would be while the fake Mayor is sleeping,” recommended Chloe.
“Yeah, midnight, probably the best time,” said Jordan.
“And to get in the house and unlock the doors we could use my hair clip,” suggested Sophie.
“OK, so at midnight tonight we are going to save the Mayor,” they all agreed.
When midnight came The Gild Children all set off to go to the Mayor’s house. It was a dark night and there was nothing lighting the outside world. This was good for The Gild Children because it would be hard for people to see them going to the Mayor’s house. When they arrived Sophie took out her hair clip and put it in the front door’s lock. It was a hard lock to crack but she unlocked the door after awhile. They were in! There was nobody in this room but there were two doors. They decided to check which one was locked because they thought the door to the Mayor would be locked. They checked and the one on the right was locked, the one on the left wasn’t so Sophie unlocked the locked door and they walked through. Just as Will had said there was a net on the walls and on the roof, there was a giant button, about three feet wide, on the floor. Good job they were experts at long jump, so they all jumped over and made it.
The Gild Children ran down the corridor and came to some stairs after a short time. Spikes were on every single step of the stairs. They all changed into the solid steel boots they had made after Will had told them about the spikes, they walked up the stairs and changed into their normal shoes.
Soon The Gild Children came to two doors that both led to different rooms. One had a dead end at the end of it and the other had a hole a few centimetres ahead of it. They thought they should kick the doors down for a bridge because the endless pit was too far for a long jump. Paul kicked the doors down and then carried them to the gap and made a weak bridge that could only support one of them at a time. They went across the bridge one by one and as soon as they all got across they ran to the final door and Sophie unlocked it. The fake Mayor was asleep with the wide awake, tied up Mayor. He was silent. The Gild Children were silent. Jordan went across and untied the rope around the Mayor’s body. They all went out of the room and the Mayor was relieved to be free.
Jordan told the Mayor, “We are The Gild Children and are here to save you and save all of the planets.” The Mayor was flabbergasted. So, Jordan said, “We have got to go across this bridge, one at a time.”
The Gild Children and the Mayor went across the bridge and went down the stairs but when they got to the net and it was the Mayor’s turn to do the long jump he just landed smack bang in the middle of the button. The net caught the Mayor and he was suspended in mid air. Deafening alarms went off and the fake Mayor woke up. He was on his way. It was a race against time to get the Mayor down. They tried everything imaginable and soon came up with a superior idea just as the fake Mayor was coming down the hallway. They threw all their steel boots at the net and it broke. They ran and ran and ran and eventually got outside. Jordan blinked; he was on Earth at the park. So were all the other Gild Children. Sixteen adults came into the park. Jordan recognised two, HIS PARENTS! THEY WERE ALIVE!
When Jordan got home with his parents he thought, “Without the Mayor and fake Mayor, there were only sixteen people on that planet. Could every one of The Gild Children’s parents have been those triangular shaped people?” Later, Jordan told his parents that he had saved every planet while he was on a planet filled with people with triangle heads, triangle hands and triangle feet. They didn’t believe him so he showed them the picture but there was no triangular head in the background! Was it just a dream?! Even though he didn’t know whether his adventure was real, he still kept in touch with who he thought were The Gild Children! They all became firm friends for life and they often spoke to each other about their strange ‘DREAM’, or was it!
Jordan’s advice to every child is if you ever see a triangle in the back of a picture, just pinch yourself to check if you are dreaming!
Put a 4 at the end of your post if you read it all.
