Fear Glowing The Diary of Desti a Run-away Slave

December 12th 1845
Bore in Africa, yes truly. My Mumzi was planting herbs in our garden me and Stety, my older brother, were playing a game of ball. Our Daddeh was helping Mumzi. Never knew. About five minutes later, some crazed white men were near us with there nets. We were defenseless. They threw there nets' on us and raked us into a ship they had us blind-folded and a rope tied round our mouths.
My Daddeh died on the horrible ship to America, and Mumzi gave birth to a brother. She named im Rageh after Daddeh. But he died he couldn't breath. We were chained to the sides of the ship only gave a little bit of water every day and some moldy bread every two days. We couldn't see anyone. We couldn't see anything.
Those horrible times ended 7 years ago off the ship the Daley's bought us. They treat us horribly, but we were fed. 2 years Mumzi gave birth again. This time to a sister. She named her Lindre after grammee who was in Africa, she wasn't caught. We don't anything about her now.
Our mistress Lady Miam is very horrible I'm a kitchen servant she slaps me hardly even if I just spill salt. They have a daughter name Becca' she's a fat spoiled brat. My master, Master Lain is almost never home, but he's nice.
Today Brasel the kitchen Head yelled and screeched at me. She slapped and hit me. I had burned a piece of good turkey. So we couldn't serve the Daley's their meat Becca through a fit. Lady Miam beated Brasel. Master Lain wasn't there. I was taught to write by Nedle a girl almost like a sister. But she was sold to the deep south the day of Lindre's birth. Nobody can know I can write.
