It's true, although they were unable to prove it on Mythbusters because Mr Croc didn't want to chase the chicken robot that Grant built.

An alligator/crocodile's body is built for speed in small bursts, they can sneak up on a drinking animal and shoot out, and even offer chase for a few seconds at speeds up to 30MPH... but their bodies aren't built for constant bending in the middle. They won't be able to keep up with you if you run in wide curves/zigzags.

He only wants a hug though. :(
