Disney owns High School Musical and Club Penguin. It is not paid advertising, but you are correct it is still advertising nonetheless.

This is just a form of internal advertising, promoting something else that the company owns. In business terms this is sometimes called "horizontal integration". You see this most often in television when channels such as Nickelodeon promote MTV Music Television (both are owned by Viacom International).

lol hey again

sorry if im becoming a real pain in the neck lol

isnt it werid that hsm is disney most popular movie of the past 2 years and now weirdly the stage is now a high school layout ??

there are millions of other layouts isnt it weird this one was picked at the peak of hsm's popularity

Clubpenguin is more commonly provoking childrens mis-behavior since less mature player have created accounts. Those players teach the young, sweet, children to be cold and mean, such as saying "Those clothes are ugly." Now honestly, do we need second graders insulting other peoples' clothes? No, but it happens anyway, and the majority of the people who do that are either on Clubpenguin or other online games, like Webkinz chat.

Unless they are actually showing HSM characters, logos, music, or things like that which would clearly state it was HSM this is not an example of cross-promotion at all. Nickelodeon has a show called Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, and in the 80's they had a show called Welcome Freshmen. What's to say this isn't a rip off of THAT high school setting?

True, it's close and people can make the connection but unless they're naming names and logos it's just a high school stage.

Dear Lord, Can we PLEASE get over this HSM thing?!?!:shout: It is barely ANYTHING like high school musical, the play revolves around mascots people! Not a pretty boy falling in love with a smart dudette cuz they can both sing. Sure, it has to do with sports and basketball and whatever, but they are selling moose heads, and parrot heads and stuff, not basketball uniforms and that dumb zac efron hair style. So therefor, CP isn't adevertising anything, at least not upfront. But still

I as much as I despise HSM, Disney has the right to advertise.

I'm not saying that they are. But if they were, they do have the rights to, and you just have to deal with it.

EDITED: they changed names from new horizon interactive to Club Penguin Entertainment.

We (Miniclip) didn't make the game. New Horizon Interactive (a subsidiary of Rocketsnail Games) created the game from October 2005 - August 2007, and from then on it was purchased by Disney and the game is now worked on by the Disney company Club Penguin Entertainment, Inc.

I know that the old version of Club Penguin's developers promised that they'd never do in-game advertising, but they upheld their promise. NHI is no more, they have been replaced with other people who may or may not think the same way.

When Disney purchased the game and company, NHI was dismantled and Club Penguin Entertainment, Inc. took its place. I am fairly certain they kept all or most of the previous employees and they all kept their positions. I have just been mistakenly calling them "NHI" when I shouldn't be.

New Horizon Interactive is still an active company, though they may move on to other things:

Club Penguin has already been given $700M and people are saying the quality of the game has plummeted since the Disney purchase.

I don't think I'm allowed to give my personal opinion on it all though, just stating what the general consensus among members is.

Plus, by advertising HSM in the game (if they are), they are not making more money for Club Penguin, they are trying to get more people interested in HSM so they buy that merchandise instead. If it were the other way around (say, someone playing CP in the background of a scene in HSM) then it would be product placement to get more people to buy into CP.

New filters aren't a bad thing. They are trying to stop bad and nasty language. We update the filters here every now and then too.

As for "alliance", there is no alliance. Club Penguin was bought for an insane amount of money and there is no turning back. It belongs to Disney, they have the monopoly, and they can build all of the little green houses and red hotels they want to on it.

lol. This isn't High School Musical! High schools just happen to be very popular places use. A lot of things can come up there. There is no mention of high school musical, so it isn't advertising. If they had high school musical banners up then I would quit.:sick:This didn't even cross my mind.

Loads of Disney shows, films and things made by completly seperate companies are set in high schools.

I don't think I need to say much. RFS seems to keep an eye on this thread. But anyway, I'll reply to this.

I agree that Disney and other companies do show films, TV shows, and other things set in high schools. However, I think most of us agree that the set was at least found from the idea of High School Musical.

I personally think the quality of the game has increased since Disney bought it. The parties are better, they did lower some of the filters. However, since I don't play, I cannot really prove this. I just know what I've seen as far as the parties go.

I thought the same thing when I first saw the stage, but seriously, if you look at the script, it's nothing like High School Musical. It's about a moose mascot dealing with stage-fright.
