I have gimp version 2. I downloaded it off google as a free trial. When I open it. it has 2 windows: one for tools, and one for layering. Now I'm trying to figure out where I draw and edit pictures. I really can't find it. Help appriciated!!

Go to the tool window, File > New. Put the pixel sixe to what ever.I'm not going to give you a full-on-tutorial- of how to do everything. But that's it.

Well gimp is confusing well heres what i know about

1-click this and pick new then it will open a window and pick you size, then it will open what you draw on
2- one of the most used tools gimp comes with a variety of nice brushes
3- modes the change a layers appearance, it can be done on all layers except backround
4- The brushes dialog can be accssed by dialogs>brushes when the spacing is edited it changes what the brush does when smudging and brushing
5- this is your canvas you draw on this
6-Filters these can give your images cool effects
7-Layers click and pick new layer to have multiple layers
8-Edit you should know this from paint copy past and all that great stuff.

Not meaning to go offtopic, but... Freebee, could you link me to where you got those brushes? They look awesome.
Now, on topic. Go onto www.gimptalk.com and look into some beginner tutorials, it's very simple once you get the hang of it. I believe there is even one that has the entire Gimp interface in a half an hour.
