There's this school dance that is coming up, and this girl who likes me my ask me to it. But she is very shy, and she hasn't tried to yet. But the dance is in a few days, and we are required to go to it as a participation grade. What should I do?

Do you like her? If so, ask her out first. If she does before you, good. Try to break her out of her shyness. If you don't like her, just politly say..."EWWW! OMG! NOOO!" :D

Yes, but I don't know if she really lies me, and if she doesn't I'll be making a complete jerk of myself.

Ok talk to her alone bring up the dance but dont say anything that might think your pushing her to ask her. Just say "Yeah Im not going with anybody at this moment" somthing casual she will then think its a good time to ask you.
