View Full Version : (12-18-7) Can you buy happiness?

Well I usually don’t like talking about real world stuff here on the forums especially when it is just me complaining about how my like has stunk over the last month or so. I’ll spare you the details and drama and just let you know that I’m in need of some happiness.
So today while in Wal-Mart with RFS hanging out and looking for Christmas gifts for our families we were making our purchases when something caught my eye. It was bright silver and bendy. I’ve seen these before and actually use to have one, they were called “Tangle.” I looked at the display for the new metallic collection and realized a rather interesting claim. It clearly says “Makes you happy”
Immediately I’m thinking “They can’t LEAGALLY claim that, can they?” so being in the crappy mood I’m in I had to take Tangle up on its claim. I seem to remember the set I had being amusing and possibly even fun but a guarantee to make me happy? So for $1.50 plus tax I took the risk and figured it was well worth potential happiness. Here is a picture of my platinum Tangle:
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/1979/tanglebe8.png
I’m still miserable, should I buy more and more of these things to try to be happy and then sue them?
On a side note what kind of things make you happy and why?

Clearly the solution is to buy lots of Tangles and make them into one SUPER Tangle.

Well the thing that makes me most happy are Happy meals (I eat some stuff but split it with my little brother ) when a new toy comes out so I can enter the contest. Last Christmas I won a Ps2 :D.
Also, why buy the tangle thing? Isn't there one on display you can look at?

For heavens sake, get a girlfriend! Get the right girl and you SHOULD be happy!
If you got one already she clearly needs to step things up a little OR you need medication!
That's my advice!:)

Well I use to buy Happy Meals well into my teens because the protions in it are the actual ones recomended for adults AND you got a neat toy :P
But the Happy Meal boxes just don't come right out and say "Makes you happy."
What would happen if Tangle became a Happy Meal Toy? Mega happiness?

Well now you have advertised that u don't have one then I think u better set up a judging panal cos I'm sure the offers will come flooding in!:D
You may have already met the perfect girl (maybe at college or Macdonalds...well I don't know where u go do i?!) but if you go around looking unapproachable then maybe you won't get many offers. Also RFS is enough to scare them off!!Only joking!
Oh yeah and they sure saw you coming when you bought that silver thing didn't they?!
Things that make me happy:
Helping people (clearly not doing a good job here!)
Good friends (You got RFS!)
Foods you like(No I am not fat, in fact very slim!)
Music
Baths (with candles!)
Shopping (don't buy small silver metal things!)
Playing with my pets.(They love me no matter what I say or do!)

Well RFS has seat #1 on the judging panel, taking aplications for remainng seats :P
Well I don't know exactly what you mean by 'unapproachable' because you could mean it in two ways.
1. As in physically not taking care of yourself.
2. As in being emotionaly unavailable.
In that respect I believe I've been dealing with # 2 for a long time. I'm a busy guy and I've always spent so much time accomplishing things that I never really allowed myself time for the simple pleasures of life (such as love). I've had girls tell me before (after it was to late) that they wanted to ask me out but they were intimidated. I remember one time when I was in Louisburg I had a friend who was a girl and I found out she had feelings towards me and I basically sat down at lunch one day and gave the "It's not you it's me" speech
But with things happening the way they are I'm going to have to be forced to settle down and live a slower life. I think I'm going to finally going to be emotionally available in the near future. If that makes any sence.
I like helping people as well but I've recently realized that comes from a general feeling of wanting to be appreciated. I have one good friend, is that all I need? I'm rather slim as well but I've been abusing the 'eating foods I like' to make me happy and I feel in the long run it is contributing and will contribute to worse medical problems than obesity. I don't like to spend money I don't have to, especally right now (yes I'm having money problems). I have no pets, never did. I've found it hard to do anything relaxing in the past because it just never made much sence to me to just sit there and do nothing. As for music it entertains me (I have a odd taste in music) but I would go as far as to say it makes me happy.
Thanks for your help tho Honey, I can tell your trying to help but it's not you it's me. LOL

Its ok.I didn't expect you to be instantly cured by those suggestions.
I meant unapproachable as in seeming intimidating (you scare the heck out of me on these forums alone!) and maybe a little guarded when it comes to girls. As in shyness that comes across as being aloof when actually you might quite like the girl.Of course you can't just throw yourself at a girl! Lol!(Not that I think u ever would have the courage!)
Your appearance is nothing to worry about...We all love the cape!:)
I think you will make a smashing (as we say in Britain!) guy for a girl who can understand you deeply. Make sure you give her the chance to, as in talk to her about stuff other than Cp and sport!
As for the money problems, yeah that can get you down. Maybe you need a rich girlfriend?
In the words of Enriques latest song called "Somebodys me":
"Somebody wants you, somebody needs you, somebody dreams about you every single night."
Remember that while you search for that special girl.:)

Well I don't think you should take this whole Tangle thing seriously because it actually could make you happy! (Depending how naive your are.) I don't think buying stuff can especially make everyone happy, but it sure doesn't hurt!
P.S. I are going to steal your Tangle! :O Because I am jealous.

Paying somebody under the federal minimum requirement is illegal and is only allowed in places where workers get tips (waiters at places like TGI Fridays and Chili's).

Money can't buy happiness in its core. No one product can be manufactured and sell "happiness" to everybody as "happiness" is ambiguous. It's an emotion which may be felt blissfully to each his own. Sure, the essence of happiness may be bought to those who already to enjoy tangles but by no means will it make "you" happy. "You" in the majoritive sense of the word, that is, means "everybody". How pretentious of them. It's absurd, blah. If their claim is wholly true, and if it were that simple, you would be able walk into a supermarket and ask for a jar of happiness. Yes, sir, so their statement was erroneous and, to be frank, plainly fallacious. If it isn't making you happy it is quite clearly lying!
:P
Sue them! Nah, actually that would just bluntly prove that you're a grumpy penny-pincher... If you are then by all means go ahead! =o It's ok not to be happy 24/7 but it's never ok to be petulant, haha, for lack of a better word. =)
I've never actually heard of a tangle before although the image looks eerily familiar to me. I'm experiencing déjà vu here and am feeling an ever more heightened sense of confusion. Darn it! why did you have to make this thread?! LOL. Oh well, I'll get over it. ;]
To address the side note, there isn't anything in particular that makes me happy. Music helps me convey my emotions, happiness mostly, so there's your answer. The littlest things like the sunrise and the sunset, the smell of rain and the sight of snow are no less than overwhelming if you really ponder them. The change of the season makes me happy, the occasional smiles I am able to provoke on peoples' faces and the path of time. Learning a new word or song. It's all good, life is amazing and, no, I promise I'm not high on anything; I'm just one of those annoying happy people. Yaaaaaay! =D
Uhm. Yes, I truly hope that the things that are preventing you from being happy subside soon. No one deserves to be sad. Whether that be through the somewhat cheery distraction of a "Tangle" or otherwise. I'm not fond of seeing people in crappy moods so chin up, lad!
;)
Holy cow. That was a pretty long post taking into consideration the fact that I was pretty much waffling on about nothing much in particular. Hohoho!

Just like most signs, they lie. Lays... The best chips in the world. Who can prove it? Just like these tangle things. Anything can make you happy. We're all different. So, while one 5 year old kid might hate a tangle thing while a 34 women might love them to death. Money can buy you happines I think. Since scientist can't prove this, there is no right or wrong answer.

Lays are exactly like Walkers that they have in the Uk. So yeah, they can't be the best!
It all depends I guess,on how you define happiness. If two minutes of a kind of contentment come over you when you play with a tangle is happiness for you then it's worked.
If like most of us,you need a longer, deeper feeling then I guess the statement on the tangle packet is not going to cut it.
BTW Thanks to this thread I want to make a really big tangle now! I'm off to the store later to get some. Wish me luck battling the Xmas shoppers!:)

Things that make me happy are:
1. Sports because, they are fun and make you fell happy and you eventuly forget some things while having fun
2.Club Penguin, even tho. it gets boring sometimes it helps me and it is fun to talk with other people in the game.
i hope you find what makes you happy!
