Well, unless you were perhaps a newborn baby a viper or cobra wound not be trying to constrict you, they'd bite you in self-defense hoping you'd leave them alone. A python though, if it were big enough may try to constrict you since they are known to sometimes attempt to take out very large prey. Still, you'd be banged up pretty bad from just their bite, some victims bled to death before they suffocated.

Strangling a snake would be pretty hard to do since their bodies are flexible and most snakes are capable of running on low-oxygen environments. They'd kill you by constricting before you'd do the same, assuming you were strong enough to put enough force on their neck like that. A snake is basically a solid tube of muscle, they are very strong. If you find yourself in a bit of a tussle with a snake the best way to go about getting out, if possible, is to start at one end and unwrap the snake.

Just a random safety fact (that might save your life someday), you should never let a large snake even "hang out" around your neck or torso, all it takes is one thing to make them feel threatened and you're pretty much a goner. ;)

I'd shoot myself with the pistol, then I wouldn't have to bother with killing the snake. :)
