View Full Version : (11-21-7) A Depressing Thanksgiving?

Vital Viper

Well the holiday season is at hand and almost everyone is excited. Sadly I'm not in that group. I'm actually down about it. This is my first Thanksgiving completely away from ANYONE even remotely related to me. Not only that but the family I stay with is going camping for Thanksgiving so I'm left all alone at the house. Even my best friend is off spending time with his family (something he wishes he didn't have to do.) On top of all that I have to work. YES I have to WORK on Thanksgiving.

So now that I'm done complaining lets do something constructive.

What is the one thing you are MOST thankful for?

I'm thankful for grace.

Oh you poor thing.
I'm feeling really sorry for you now. If you were a girl I'd say get a sappy movie and eat some choclate when you get home and remember lots of people care about you.
What boys do,I wouldn't hazard a guess at, so whatever it is do it and just take the last bit of the previous sentence.
Id say hugs but snakes hug a little too hard!:)

Ironic that two years ago I would have taken an identical attitude as your own.

I am thankful for everyone that makes my life what it is, such as my friends and relatives.

Well here is my Thanksgiving update.

My Thanksgiving lunch was a microwavable corn dog and a ham and cheese hot pocket. I leave for work in an hour or two.

On the bright side I'm watching football and I'm about to log onto CP and hang out.

I just recently moved to a completely new state and since I've been here I have been more focused on school and work than I have social interaction.

As of right now I'm in my igloo in Mammoth.

So if we're talking about depressing Thanksgiving's, see what you think of this.

My mother, who is very sick is currently in hospital where it's possible she might not even come home again.
My role in the home is now to be the mom (oldest girl)and I think i'm a little too young for this responsibility.
One of my sisters resents that and won't do a thing i say.
My big bro is trying to sort out my father who is cracking under the strain of his business and the fact that my mom is so ill and I saw him cry for the first time since he was a little kid last night. That was hard.
My long term boyfriend (2 years)who split with me last month is now begging for me to come back to him and won't stop phoning, mailing, getting on my friend's nerves.I don't know what to do about it as his past makes it hard to just tell him it's over.
To cap it all, a small child in our family may have to go into care (Her mom is having a breakdown)and the only person who could possibly stop this happening who has the time and patience for her is...yep,me!
I don't type this for sympathy, only so u can see that there are bad Thanksgiving's and even worse Thanksgivings. I may be doing CP from the mental home soon! Lol!
Happy Thanksgiving!:|

Wow! I'm so sorry.
No, do not get back with your boyfriend if the only reason is because you feel sorry for him. Do NOT! You will both be just fine in time. (unless he's a psychopath....not to scare you or anything.)
In fact, if you can get away with not dating anyone until you go to college or are thinking about marriage, do it. You'll save yourself a lot of headache. Just ask RFS.

I know what you mean about being the mom. I didn't take over everything; and I don't like to talk about it; but let's just say that I was the one who held my brothers' hands when they were learning to write. My sister was part mom; but I had more for some reason, probably because I seemed the most likely to not complain about it.

I hope you all had some nice times on your Thanksgiving despite all.

Thx JuneBelle.
So you know a little of what it's like then to be 'Mom'!
Ya we had a good time despite the problems as we invited another family over and I managed not to burn the turkey and they seemed to all enjoy it!
Yeah my ex was put into care at the age of six and is well a bit messed uo so it's hard to say no to him as it's like another rejection but I'm going to try to be firm.
As for college that got messed up for me in the transfer from the Uk to here so I don't go to college. Anyway looks like I'm set to go into Dad's business anyway so my life is being mapped out for me.
As this forum is not about me I better leave it there! It's like a freak show in my life but don't worry my humor gets me through.:)

No problem. :D
Yeah, I know all about how you try to tell your siblings to do something; but they don't do it saying,"I don't have to do it. You're not my mother!" Then your parents come along and say,"Listen to her. She's in charge." But they don't.

Wow! You had to cook the turkey? I help cook; but no one wants to see me doing anything complicated or have to taste it. They all want to keep their taste buds in working order. ;)

EDIT
Well, okay, that's not the complete truth. If I really tried, I could probably manage to cook fairly well; but I have neither the time nor the energy to try.
FINISH EDIT

That's okay. College age is what I should have said.
Are you happy with that? You know you aren't really stuck at it. You can just keep doing that but look at some other options that would make you more happy.

Well I went to go add you but somehow I've ended up with 107 buddies and would have to remove 8 people that I JUST added in order to add you :(

Then I was still going to hang out but when I checked how many buddies I had I saw that my penguin is 666 days old :O

I will not be playing CP today, sry.

I'll have to disagree, I'd rather be around family.

Well I'm going to avoid making a blunt "666" joke here. But you'd rather be around family? I guess it is Thanksgiving spirit and all... That is sort of mean that none of your relatived called you or anything, since it is normal to want to be with close ones on such a holiday.

We I guess thats why I usually just tuck my real life away in favor of the "Almighty Perfect Vital Viper Celebrity" image.

Yea, I was sure to record the game while I was gone almost all day at work. They have had a good season but it is the playoffs that matter and we have been having bad games there for a long time.

Everywhere I go here in California (even the food store!) people stop and say "Oh I love your accent, where is it from?" As if it were separate to me somehow! :D
That's why I love American's so much because most make us Brit's feel really special.
