Well over the past few days I'm sure lots of you have read and interpreted the quotes that I have placed in my sig. I have received a few questions about them and even had one user comment:

I don't get it...

Isn't it saying to not be a Vital Viper?
I want the quotes to stay so I figured I'd give you my two cents worth about how I interpret them as the subject of today's blog.
_______________

"Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value."
-Albert Einstein

I'd consider Albert Einstein successful, wouldn't you? It is important to note from the beginning that the person giving advice is knowledgeable in that area. Just like how you wouldn't take war strategies from France, or relationship advice from RFS.

To me he is saying, If your goal in life is to be successful, (who's isn't?) then the best way to reach success is to be someone who deserves the respect that is success.

I never tried to become 'successful' in Club Penguin, but rather aimed to 'be a man of value' by being a good example to other users.
_______________

"The price of greatness is responsibility."
-Winston Churchill

Winston Churchill, no doubt a great man. Someone worthy of giving advice on what it means to become/be great.

This quote is allot like the one Spiderman battles with in his movies "With great power comes great responsibility" There are things you have to sacrifice when you are responsible for other people. It truly is a price to be paid (and they don't accept cash or credit cards.) :(

As a so called "famous penguin" I give up the 'normal' life and subject myself to crowds of adoring fans. It makes them happy, and I want them to be happy. If I can make someone's day by playing them in find four, going sled racing, or even having a party in my igloo then that makes me feel like I am using my 'greatness' responsibly.
_______________

"Don't try to take on a new personality; it just doesn't work."
-Richard M. Nixon

No one better than a former US President to tell us what works and doesn't work when it comes to interacting with other people, right?

My interpretation here is "Be yourself, if you try to be someone your not people will notice."

I can't just BOOM become a different person, and honestly if I tried it would be silly. I've earned all the respect I've gotten from being myself. That said you have noticed some changes. Lets just say that I've decided to censor some things in order to use my influence in a more positive matter. But I guarantee you, I am still the same Vital Viper, I just have some new rules to follow that I had never realized I was breaking.
_______________

It kinda makes me disappointed that I am often looked at as not being true to these quotes. And that these ideas of value, responsibility, and being yourself are not considered very 'Vitalviperlike' If you did manage to read all this and would like to respond by interpreting them yourself or comment on what I have said I ask you to complete the evaluation of my sig by rating my sig pic. Rate high, RFS is watching! ;)

He's seriously right. Don't ask me for relationship advice. There's a reason I'm single. :O

about the nixon quote, it's a bit hypocritcal to come from a guy like nixon that had as many problems as he did as was impeached for pretty much outing information and trying to cover it up. Also I didn't catch what you said about einsteins quote, cuz you said two different things ( at least that's what I gathered) For me the quote means that you shouldn't try to be some big important person, but instead be a humble person. good quotes though. oh and a side note, I've noticed that you always spell the term "a lot" this way: "allot", which isn't a word, just a heads up

Yea, hence the  sarcasm thing.

I did each quote like this:

-About the person who said it

-What I feel it means

-How it relates to me and this forum

Thanks for the heads up but I've made this mistake for a long time and it is just something I know better but do anyway. and allot actually is a word, it just isn't a word in the context I use it in. If it wasn't a word than spell check would point this out when I do it :P

Allot:

1. to divide or distribute by share or portion; distribute or parcel out; apportion: to allot the available farmland among the settlers.
2. to appropriate for a special purpose: to allot money for a park.
3. to assign as a portion; set apart; dedicate. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/allot)

Thanks again for your quality post :D

Yo Vital, on your current sig quotes:

Isn't Churchill's like the one from Spiderman? Lol!

And Nixon had to resign from presidency and he was about to get impeached and he ALSO broke into like the national headquarters and searched it at night (watergate) and he got caught plus he wiretapped people that were against the law to wiretap.

Hah, I so laughed out loud when I saw you had a Nixon quote. (He was arguably the worst president ever to take office.) My life gets better and better all the time. Seriously though, ROFL.

No offense, but yeah, it's still pretty funny. Nice quote though, too bad he didn't actually come up with it. (You know presidents have writers that actually come up with what they say. It's just their job to perform it as convincingly as possible.) It is a good quote though.

People have put quotes in their sigs for ages, I'm not copying anyone.

It is a common thing in forums in general.

Glad to hear you are using your greatness productively.
I do what i can :)

I like using quotes, too. They make us think. Or they are just funny. Here's one...I don't know the source.
"What if the Hoky Poky WAS what it's all about?":D

I like one from Vince Lumbardi, although I don't think it is true. He applied it to coaching the Packers...."Winning isn't everything. It's the only thing."

*shrug* Oh well, some people will never completely change. I guess, this is better than before? I wouldn't know. I haven't seen before. But I assume that it is.

Yeah that's my one! Lol! Good memory JuneBelle!

I think the ego is still pretty much there despite all the smacking down it often get's.
I still can't get over the crowds he gets on CP. (I often just stand to one side and giggle!)It's hysterical! In fact I don't know why we bother with RH anymore. Just give the ship to VV!!!

Uhm. Husblaghnefirehagasmack? My sig quote is a confession! That close minded jerk. No, he is not really a close-minded jerk, I think.

Do u think it's like this for him in real life? It's mad!
I'm like a little voice in the crowd. "Hi Viper!" If I'm lucky he actually see's it and answers.
I feel like a little pet dog waiting for a pat on the head! :D

Unfortunately I'm not as popular in real life as I am on CP :P

I do the best I can to respond to everyone but thats a lot to reply to!

Well I'm just glad I can make people happy. That makes it all worth it.
