View Full Version : (11-5-7) A Day at the Movies

Yesterday, I met forum admin RFS at a local movie theater for a mega movie marathon. I had the day off so it was time for a day of fun! Work has been really stressful lately and it is nice to get out and have some fun.
The first movie we saw was The Comebacks. I had been wanting to see this movie for awhile because this would be the first one of those parody movies that I would actually get the jokes from, since I'm big into sports/sports movies. I have a much more classy sense of humor so allot of the jokes just seemed to insult my intelligence, although it was fun to be like "Hey I know what movie that joke is for!"
The second movie we saw was The Game Plan. I'm not a huge fan of The Rock but he isn't all that bad of an actor. This movie had a nice plot and a nice lesson. The starting QB on a popular football team has major ego problems and only thinks about himself. Sound like anyone else you know around here? :vitalviper: Anyone? The plot was great and the jokes were worth laughing at. This was probably the movie I enjoyed most out of the ones I saw.
The third movie we saw was Thirty Days of Night. The concept was neat although I could never quite follow the plot. It was always difficult to keep up with the characters, I had to keep asking myself, "Wait who is that again?" I had trouble finding out if this movie was trying to scare me or confuse me, lol. The ending was meant to be romantic but I thought it was just weird.
The fourth, yes fourth, movie we say was Saw IV. I saw Saw One and Two but never saw Saw Three. RFS told me a basic plot line and I felt like I wouldn't miss much. Well this movie was hard to follow just like most Saw movies. I actually thought I was understanding it up until the end where everything just seemed to go crazy and instead of explaining everything it just makes things even more confusing. Guess I'll have to wait for Saw 5 to clear it up?
Over all it was lots of fun and I had a great time. The movies were worth it, although just like a meal, it isn't all about the quality of whats on the table but rather the quality of the people in the seats.

I usually don't either, I guess thats why I have to see movies 4 at a time, lol.
These days actually going to the theater and paying a bunch of money for the snacks, sodas, and popcorn has become second rate to just waiting to watch the DVD in your home theater system.

It was a pretty weird movie. Lots of awesome action though, when they actually tried to fight the vampires. TRENCHER FOR THE WIN! :D

Aha, get this: My DAD was afraid of getting scared, so he wouldn't take ME. ._. Ugh. Oh well, they make DVD's for a reason, I suppose.

Well in the very beggining they show a very disturbing autopsy and there are parts here and there that push the limits of the R rating but I guess if you have seen the others it isn't like you don't know that is a staple of the series.
I know you will be a good leader.
I want to see Thirty Days Of Night - unfortunately, I can't convince my family to see it with me.
Bummer, it really wasn't THAT scary. If I really live in the arctic circle and had to go through the 30 days of night MAYBE this would have made me scared.

Hmm...
The Comebacks = ......?
The Game Plan = *thumbs up* :D
Thirty Days of Night = ???? *look it up on Google*
Saw IV =  *throw up*
By the end of that day, I'd be huddled in a dark corner trying to forget the images I had just seen. I don't like horror flicks.
I can wait to see Enchanted!!! Woo hoo!!! It's going to be great. Some old veteran Disney artists worked on it. :D Yay!!
Om Shanti Om is going to be good. As is Saawariya. :D

I want to see it as well, I actually laughed at the previews. From the looks of it it's ANOTHER one of those Princess and Prince Charming movies, but it completely undermines itself and makes fun of itself at the same time (breaking out into song and dance in the real world, etc). Sarcastic and satirical humor is my favorite and my specialty.
Plus it has a dragon. I'm sold. :D

Yea I liked the idea of this one as well. It's like "Hey lets take all this fluffy wuffy goodness stuff and toss it into the real world." As for the dragon, I look forward to watching the prince defeat it because you know it's gonna happen :P Although I'm sure you would love a "Lets all be friends" ending where the antagonists and the protagonist realize they aren't so different, hold hands and break out into Kumbya.
I think that this film won't be lying when they claim it as "Fun for the whole family."

I never get to go to the movies unless it is with a friend. Usually I wait 'til the movie comes on dvd, then I rent it. I'm kind of cheap.:P By the looks of Saw IV from the commercials it looks different then the other three. You should really see the first three.

Usually we are more like forks and microwaves. Lots of sparks. Whenever we hang out in Wal-Mart's toy aisle he immediately gets a lightsaber or foam sword and tries to slay the dragon. :O

Oh cool! I love the toy isle! I have an amazing collection of Hot Wheel cars. Ya I know, pretty odd for a girl but what the heck, it's out in the open now!:D
Also my mom used to always pick up the kid's swords and shout, "I have the power!" to make me laugh! (Or actually, usually I would just die of embarassment!)
