I was thinking this is the right category because its COMIC books, and Books is in the word Comic Books so this forum is also called Books so yea....

Ever wanted to make a comic book but never knew how? Well heres your ticket to Making a Comic Book! It tells you how to make a great successful comic book! SO what ya' waiting for? READ!

Table Of Contents
1. Idea Making
2. Sketching Everything
3. Surroundings/Setting
4. Your Crew
5. The 1st Issue!!

1.Idea Making
I bet your driving yourself crazy over WHAT TO DO!!!!!! You ask yourself that question everyday that passes! Well never mind that here is your ticket out! Just sit down on a couch/bed/confy place, grab some paper, and turn on cartoons (must be cartoons). Now draw what ever is on your mind. A talking hippo. A Llamma with wings. ANYTHING! Just sketch it down. And watch those cartoons too, they might show some ideas! Just dont copyright!

P.S. your comic doesnt have to be all fancy awesome drawn cool like DC or Marvel. I mean, you can do stick figures and make it be a very successful, awesome comic!

2. Sketching Da Stuff
Well ya got our ideas now eh? Well now your ready for SKETCHING! Just take all the ideas you really liked, and now get more paper. Draw all those things again, write mini side captions too for info to add in later. Then think of the story line and write that on a piece of notebook paper. KEEP THAT! Now just keep sketching over and over until you got the hand of it and know all your characters.

3. Surroundings/Settings
Well now you know your info, and got your characters down, am i right? Well now you can draw the setting and write down how the surroundings are like. Does your comic take place in a boring old dump of a city? Or does it take place in a cool, futuristic looking city? YOUR CHOICE! Now you have your idea in your head, QUICK, RUN, GO GET SOME PAPER AGAIN!! Now write down everything about the setting and surroundings (and draw of course!). After that, get to know your town, draw different parts of it. Then when you almost know your town like your aunt Lisa, then scroll down and look at step 4!

4. Your Crew
STOP! I KNOW what your thinking! "Oh im gonna go make my first issue!" NOPE! Wrong, that wont get you anywhere. First you need to make a Pilot Episode. Kinda like a TV episode, just for your comic. but follow these 4 words: DONT MAKE IT LONG!!!! That is manditory! People do not want a 30 page long preview. Thats like 20 minutes of previews at a movie theat-....ok....50 Minute previews (better?). Just make it a few, but make it a BEFORE the story so u can lead it up to the 1st thing and it will keep readers hooked! Now to the actual point of this "category". YOUR CREW! Now you need a.....
Writer, Storyboard, Artist, Background Artist, and Director. Those are your crew members.
a. Your writer is the person who writes the storyline and whatever happens, Action scenes, ect. Now you need someone who gets all A+ in L.A. for this guy/gal. And they must be willing to do this once you ask them. So ask them, if yes YAY! Then tell them the job, they will tell u ideas for each comic, and you will either accept or decline them.
b. The Storyboard Artist is the person who doesnt have to be the A+ art student. This member just makes the quick sketches of everything thats going to happen (AFTER he/she reads the script that the Write wrote). When you tell em' to fix it up till your joy, then you need to go to your......
c.....ARTIST! Well here is your A+ art student. Just like the writer, try to find someone who is AWESOME at art! Then hire them, and tell them their job. Their part is to DRAW everything. After you have designed the layout of the inside of the comic book (pannels and stuff) then he draws the sketches (that the storyboard artist gives him/her.....(see the pattern?;))) in real good coolio, awesome form. Makes the action scenes real and everything!
d. Background artist is the one person that draws all the backgrounds. This member your looking for is that person who loves to draw real life things and has drawn the Titanic phenomenal-ly in 2nd grade (i mentioned that because my real friend DID do that!, How ). Ask this person, blabbidy blah! You know the rest! Then once the artist if finished with the well, art, then they pass in on the background guy and they draw the backgrounds behind them.
e. Director. ITS U (unless you are extremely talented in one of the positions above)!!! You tell everyone what to do with the comic, deadlines, and all that cool stuff. If you dont like something, tell em (just be gentle, people WILL quit if your too demanding or mean).

5. The 1st ISSUE!!!
Got your crew, supplies and NOW you can make the 1st issue! Just do all the steps above (about the members, and what they do) and you will have your first issue in no time! Then keep up the good work, and keep you and your crew happy and together and then you will have a great comic series!

HOPE THIS HELPS AND HAPPY COMIC CREATING!!:P:O

Great guide! I like writing comics but I never get to work on them much. This might also help with an animated movie I'm making as well!

This should really be stickied!

I don't like it. You do not need a storyboard, you can not have a successful stick figure comic, you do not need different 'crew' members for your comic, and you should not have a different artist for backgrounds. Your many exclamation points, cap letters, smilies, and enthusiastic/hyper writing get very annoying and clog up the guide. You should use as good and proper grammer when you post, and especially when you make a guide.

This did not teach me anything about making a comic.

He sure tought me something. This is HIS GUIDE and he should be able to post it anyway he wants too. For a succesful CARTOON (I'm pretty sure thats what he meant) you will need a storyboard, more than one background artists, OF COURSE YOU NEED CREW MEMBERS. Stick figures can go fine, you just need to be able to draw the background well, draw the characters well, and make an interesting story.

So I think I will ignore you.
