Who here as played E.T. for the Atari? Well if you have you know how horrible it is. You basically fall through pits looking for these Reese's pieces things. I know most people say movie games aren't supposed to be good, but this one takes the cake.

And, I believe the makers of the game literally buried all remaining catridges of the game in an unkown location.

This was one of the first games based off of a movie. Ironically 25 years later I have yet to see a movie-based game that did not suck. ET set the standard for a long legacy of horrible games.

ET wasn't the only game buried out in the desert (which is Alamogordo, New Mexico). Pac Man and some other prototype software were also trashed.

I wouldn't say it entirely sucked hardcore but you have to remember it was for Atari and Atari games suck in general. Sure, it might of been great for it's time but how we see it now is quite a difference from the past.

I remember having it, it was like my favorite game. But as RFS stated, ET was one of the first movie games. Comparing it to other games that may have total glitches and gameplay it is quite delightful. Just take a look at The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for Atari. It had pretty bad gameplay, all you do is kill girls with a chainsaw that's the same color as your body. Then, when your chainsaw runs out of fuel, a girl kicks you in the butt and you go flying. You also get stuck in obstacles though you have a chainsaw with you. Also, the game is disproportional in general. The trees are bigger than the house yet the house is closer. Note the fact that the truck next to the house is actually the same size of the house.

Your opinion on video games has been grossly slanted with the flashy graphics and orchestrated soundtracks of today's "games", if you could even call them that. :( Once the PlayStation 1 and Nintendo 64 came out, developers started to completely miss the point of a video game and started try to just out do each other with as much stupid random un-needed stuff as possible.

With the Atari (and other old systems) you had colored blocks on a screen, and you had better make something decent out of it. The graphics were usually squares and required the use of something modern scientists now call "imagination", a byproduct of the human body that ceased to exist at the turn of the millennium.

Graphics and music do not make a good game :O.
Gameplay is the best part of a game and always
will be. I once asked someone why halo is so good,
they said becuase it has good graphics, you can shoot
aliens, and you can drive vehicles. :S Ever heard of
Time Splitters which came ot way before halo>!?!?!.

P.S. I was just agreing with you not fighting,

OFFTOPIC:
BTW RFS, I want your Crayon Shin Chan game :(,
do you know how much that cost??

Amen to that. One of my favorite games of all time is Space Master X-7 on the Atari 2600. All you is shoot at a target that is guarded by moving forcefields, you have to watch the fields and dodge them and also dodge bullets and enemies. It's really fun even though the graphics of course are terrible.

As for the Shin Chan game, my friend brought it home from the OniCon anime convention, he spent $20 on it.

I have never heard of Space Master X-7 :S..
I know what space invaders is but not that :O.
I was once watching a show and there was an adult
who was talking about video games, and he
started to talk to a kid about pong.. before he
got any further the kid said, "What is pong, is it
a game for the xBox?". I wanted to punch the kid
in the face

Never heard of OniCon anime convention :S.. I know
what ComiCon is but not OniCon. I do not actualy own
a NES, but If I got my hands on that game I would hunt
it down :shout:... I would be doing the You Know What
Dance for hours on end :|. Shic Chan is such a idiot
and yet so cool!! :D

OniCon is a convention in Austin, TX I believe. I would have gone with Jason but as it turns out his ride happened to be my ex, so I opted to stay home.

We left our ds' in the car and we come to find there were
about 20 people with ds' using picto chat :( (that would
have ben AWESOME). You shoulda gone anyways, you
could have just seperated from the group :S... there
is only one anime boston convention in mass so you
gota go when you can :S.

Sitting in a car for three hours with your ex is not comfortable.

Wow that must be like the buried treasure(or junk) of video games

Actually because of their status as "urban legend", an authentic "Alamogordo ET Game" would be worth an incredible amount of money to collectors, especially if it was damaged and/or had traces of concrete and stuff on it.

To compare, the average value of an ACTUAL ET game that wasn't buried?: Less than one dollar.

The game is boring and hard. I find it impossible to beat. The movie was horrible and so is the game. Like RFS said, there is no good video game based off of a movie.

That's exactly my opinion. Since all this new technology became more advance over the years, people are questioning old consoles. The fact that Atari games are old and suck compared to the new consoles make it look prehistoric. I like the Atari but if you compare them to now, now is more favorited. So I used the perspective people today think of Atari games. :P

My 360 makes for a nice paperweight.

In the event that the oven stops working all I have to do is turn it on and presto it's a skillet.

Yeah, it sounds pitiful....

I perfer playing NASCAR Rumble, for the PS1, it was my first ever game and I loved it, my friend lived across the street at the time and we would play it all day. The AI had Skill Levels and they had unlockable tracks and cars. They had Co-Op, 2 Player Team (each human player had a computer and wherever each driver finished they got points for it.) There were power ups, single player, Single player Teams, Time Trials, and there were like 90 drivers to choose from, but, my PS2 won't play the game anymore D:
