That's where all the magic happens.
Two chairs, a camcorder, and a green bedsheet pinned to the ceiling with paper letters spelling out "LET'S PLAY!" on it.
My buddy Jason and I (more commonly known as "RFS Media Productions in association with Twisted Studios presents") finished up a great "pilot" teaser episode for our brand new online video series "Let's Play!" earlier today. Let's Play is a show that's kind of like a tips and tricks dispenser, only we plan to follow a game from start to finish and offer as many as possible.
So what's the motivation behind starting a new show like this, especially a big one? I don't really know. We aren't doing this to be popular, we're just doing it because it's fun and we're good at it. Jason might be a little camera shy, but a lot of the stuff you're laughing at is his work. Plus, video games are fun!
Oh yeah, and I spent a week in Flash making the silly introductory sequence.

We're doing Puggsy on the Sega Genesis (it was also released for Sega CD and Amiga).
I posted the first episode in the non-cp gallery. :)

Not until January 2008 most likely, unless we end up going into production "over drive". The main thing we need to do that is going to take a while is play all 57 levels and write appropriate commentary for it. The editing portion isn't that difficult.
We also have some extra talent in the show in the form of "Let's Play Field Reporters", so we need their footage as well.

Yep, there are going to be a few more people that aren't in the insanely flashy opening bit. They aren't in the opening because they aren't "regulars" on the show. They just make special appearances. :P
Whenever the show is ready to go I'll be sure to post it here. :) I'll also be touching up the audio and video in the teaser episode, so that one will probably be the first to "re-air".
EDIT: We were gonna do Super Mario Bros but we decided that game has been "overdone" in terms of walkthroughs and stuff like that. "Puggsy" was given the thumbs up by the production companies involved so we have 18 episodes to produce, more if we decide to re-portion the levels in each episode.

Glad to see you saw the invisible text. :P
So when you do commentaries on the games, will it also be on stuff like the impact the game had on the video gaming world itself?
Offtopic: I like the pokemon glitch vids. ;)
EDIT: I lol'd the Dr. Pepper sodas and marks. What happened to Mr. Pibb?

Yeah, the first episode was mostly to talk about the game and the history, but we will plug in "factoids" and other interesting stuff as the videos progress.
And as for Pibb, they don't sell that where I live. :( My folks picked me up a case when they went out of town for a weekend and I stayed home.

I hope you don't mind be acting like a nub asking for spoilers, but what's the next game going to be? This seems like a pretty interesting concept.
OK SO NO SUPER MARIO BROS BUT YOU MUST DO SOMETHING LIKE SUPER MARIO 64 OR SUPER SMASH BROS OR SOMETHING BIG FOR NINTENDO ok

Looking at your inviso text, I don't know how possible a Nintendo 64 game will be. Basically if it's at least one step behind Nintendo 64 in terms of graphics and processor requirements then it's fair game for us. Otherwise capturing video will prove to be pretty hard to do. We experimented around, and we settled on screen capturing an emulator*.
We haven't really put much thought into "Season 2" since we've barely begun to work on this first collection, but Jason really wants to do Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I'm still figuring out how that would be possible, since that game is so fast-paced and Puggsy for the most part is something you can take your time on since it is puzzle based.
*Just a note though, I'm legally allowed to own the ROM image of Puggsy on my computer, since as you can see in the video, we've got the box and manual and all those other tidbits. :P

"The law" on copyright is that as long as you own a copy of something, you may create/get ONE copy for use as backup. So, if you own the cartridge version of a video game, you may legally own the ROM. If you have the actual album from your favorite band, you may download that album (don't know why you would want to) or burn one copy, etc.

That law is almost as pointless as Hiyaman's post. If you ever lose the original copy you have no rights to own a ROM of it, though that would be the only reason you'd need a ROM. :|

I saw the teaser, and have to ask you:
Did G4 really ask you to do this? Or was that a tease?

"G4" is an inside joke from RFSHQ. None of us really like G4 because it's an awful channel, and in the past we have joked about getting "bought out" by G4. At the beginning of the video after the opening there's an entire joke about "G4 hiring us to make a show FOR them because they aren't smart enough to do it themselves".

Yea, I guessed that...

Some kids in my neighborhood hired me to direct their videos for them. I said yes immediatly, and it looks like they're kinda talented. I made it under on exception though:
One of the characters has to be my name, and others have to be these names:
Chris
John
Cooper (maybe.)
Lucky me. XD.
