View Full Version : An introduction to the new Post Icons.

In perhaps one of my most ambitious updates to the forums, I added a choice selection of icons to the forums with the help of the talented Moderators here. In this thread I hope to tell you what they are for, what they mean, how to use them, and I'll try to answer any preemptive questions before they arise.

1. What are the tags for?
When you make a post, pick a tag that you feel best represents your thread. For example, if you are posting a thread about the new clothes in Club Penguin, you'd pick the http://penguinforum.miniclip.com/images/icons/catalog.png tag.

2. I see tags like "ALERT" and "RFS Thread" how come I can't use these?
These are thread tags that are reserved for Staff and private use only. The following tags are reserved for staff only:
- The "blank" tag.
- ALERT!
- RFS Thread
- The ":scary: emote" tag.
- Worst Thread Ever
- The "poll" tag.
- Vital Viper's "Approved" tag
Staff members can assign ANY tag to a thread that is already posted. This is why some users have "Worst Thread Ever" and ":scary:" tags.

3. I forgot to pick a tag when I posted! Can I fix it?
NO YOU ARE AN AWFUL POSTER AND YOU SHOULD BE BANNED RIGHT NOW. You can't pick a tag now but a Moderator can edit one in for you.

4. What is this ugly block that shows up above everyone's post?
That's the blank tag, which SHOULD be transparent. It appears fine in other browsers, so this looks like something that needs to be worked on.

5. No offense RFS but your thread tags are annoying/giving me seizures/made my grandma die.

I can't take ALL the credit, I absolutely could not have done this on my own without the help of the staff.

Well, I could have but they all would have looked like crap. :D

If your talking about how the forum looks wider, its not because of thread tags. It happened yesterday, when there werent any tags.

Also, RFS had a test post a few days ago with a thread tag, and it did not make it wider. So, the thread tags did not make the forum look wider.

No, I mean, when you go into a sub forum, where it lists the threads, the place where the the little marker things are is wider now, which bugs me. I liked the other ones better.

I agree completetly, I am sure you guys worked really hard. I am not really into the whole 'flashy' thing, I like a forum that is nice and plain, easy to read. The icons just bug me.

But, make the width of them a bit smaller.

Too late now, we already made them.

Absolutely. If you think that we are missing some, feel free to suggest them. We may also "Retire" tags that we think are not being used anymore.

I have a question, one of the icons, says: :O Hacker.
So is it allowed to discuss about hackers?

Not really, check the rules. "Hacker" is a tag commonly used regarding account safety and how to protect yourself from fraud.

Can we make post icons for you to add?

I made one for graphics teams. The "Club Team" icon being used for graphics teams doesn't really suit it well. The penguins in the icon make it seem like a CP related team (I think those are penguins in the background?). I made this one:

While the tag looks nice, you're still on a Club Penguin forum so yeah most of the tags are going to be "themed"... and you've got a club of some sort going on. I don't think two "Club" tags are really necessary.

That has been disabled. You can only select tags when you make new threads. Posts are automatically given the default "blank tag" that is SUPPOSED to be transparent, but Internet Explorer sucks and messes everything up every single time. Don't use IE. Use Firefox. :P

No. We don't need two and we don't need a replacement.

You're all on a Club Penguin forum. If you don't like it, start a team somewhere else. This is like complaining that a steak has too much meat on it.

Did you click the "GO Advanced" button, if there was one? If you post a thread and it just wont let you add a tag, that's ok a Moderator can edit in a tag later on. You can always edit your post to say "Mods please change my tag to such-and-such".

When you edit your post click "Go Advanced" and you should be able to select a tag. I believe, however, that I uncoded that permission due to users being able to attach icons to EVERY post they make and not just a new thread. If you cannot attach a tag, usually a Moderator will attach one for you. :) You can also edit your post and request a specific tag.
