Braces...are they really that bad?

Basically everyone in my year has braces (except me) it's kind of like a fahion now. :P

I don't really see how they are so bad. Are they? Also do they hurt? :O

I don't know why I'm asking this...I don't think I need them...

i have braces they don't really hurt but during the first week its hard to eat and sleep and you have a big responsibility each night

If you have had alot of things done to your mouth allready (A lot of fixing, teeth pulling, equipmtne put in) you get use to it.
But all in all there not as bad as they seem.

Tightening them is a different story :confused:

Braces aren't that bad. The only downside to having braces is the first week when your teeth hurt like crazy. Almost all of my friends have or have had braces.

Braces HURT. Believe you me, flipping heck. They were awfully annoying. Getting them tightened, eughh. They weren't exactly the nicest thing to look at, either. Oh yeah, food getting stuck.

I used to have braces. They don't hurt much. In fact, it's kind of cool to wear braces these days because almost EVERYONE has them.

They're REALLY not too bad. The first night is murder on your mouth, and everything is poking around. The second day is just sore, but if you lie down sideways, you can barely feel that you have them... after the third day, you kinda don't think twice about having them :D

I have never had them, but they aren't the end of the world as lost of people I know have said, other than the fact that for the first few days they hurt and you can't eat much cause of the glue drying. After that any sticky food is supposedly off-limits.:P.

They're not bad. The first days you just can't really eat solid food.
I have them and they don't bother me. :)

I had braces and let me tell you, you don't want them.
Sure, they don't mess you up that bad but it is still annoying
having metal in your mouth.

Good luck falling of a bike/skateboard/etc.
And sometimes they just hurt.

The hurt most when you get them tightened or
new brackets are added. It hurts so bad you wish you would die.

Also, I hate the way they 'cement' them, ya that's right cement them
to your teeth. I'm luck, I went to a fancy state of the art place and they used another procedure, but I still had to sit with my moouth open for about 45 minutes.

they are a fashion at times but a painful one to say the least. :)

Braces hurt like crazy! The first time they put them on and on the first couple of tightenings, my gums bled. The orthodontist told me that if my teeth hurt to take this plastic horseshoe-shaped thing and clamp down on it. It tried that thinking that it would help... I clamped down and literally fell on the floor from the shock of the pain. I never ever did that again!!! It was excruciating!!!

The numbing medicine didn't do much to help me. Eating was a complete chore, especially since I my teeth hurt constantly but especially when I touched or clamped them. (I lost about 5 or 6 pounds in the first few months.) So I basically had to eat only with my back molars and only after cutting my food to small bits.

I couldn't eat carrots. I couldn't eat apples. I still can't cut hard things with my incisors because I might crack off my permanent retainers.

Plus, I looked awful with them on; but that was the least of my worries.

I'm ecstatic that they are long gone! :D *pearly whites* (On the upside, the orthodontist told me that my teeth were the perfect size to have the perfect smile by the end of it.)

I wont personally need them but my brother will, I think its good to get them, because after you have perfect teeth. :O

I just got mine the 2nd Of Oct. Tell you one thing you get to get outta school:DThats the BEST part. But mine like 30min-1hr later it hurts where they pushed it down kinda:| I had to eat apple_sauce:sick:Atcually it wasnt all bad but it'll be worth it couple years later:)I pop'd a bracket the forst couple hrs or so, lol

Wow, we're the same; I've never had braces either. Everyone I know that has them says they hurt your gums so yeah, they're bad.

I had braces for 3 years. Got em off in March.

They arn't as bad as people think they are. Yes, they hurt for about a week once you get them on, and they hurt for about 1-3 days when you get them tightened. Just be sure to always take the nasty stuff out of your teeth if it gets stuck.

Also, don't be afraid to eat the things doctors tell you not to eat. It really doesn't do anything bad.

I have never had braces before, but my freinds who wear them don't seem to mind wearing them, since they say it's not painful at all.
