Welcome to my blogness.
I am a huge Cowboys fan. All week I've been looking forward to the rightfully hyped (front page on the USA Today last Friday) Cowboy VS Patriots game despite the fact that I had to be at work while the game was on. Thanks to the magic of technology I had the game recorded and was able to comfortably sit down and watch it after work. I was able to watch our defence get destroied on the Pats openeing drive, right before I had to leave for work. So needless to say my expectations wern't high. During work I was able to 'bum the score' off a customer and they told me we were only down by 4 coming to the end of the second quarter. So by the time I get to watch the game I'm tempted to just start from halftime but refrained from 'cheating' and I'm glad I did.
The Cowboys really showed that they wern't over rated and really kept the game close. The real thing that was hurting us was field position. We were starting on our own 20 almost every time and they were starting around the 40. That makes it really hard for our defence to make plays. The one time we did have them backed up was the fumble for a touchdown. It also makes it hard for Romo to make plays as well, we got our running game going once we had some room to work with and those were our scoring drives. If the Cowboys would have had the field position that the Pats had we would have been just as good as them.
Other points:
-I could tell Romo was holding back after throwing so many interceptions last weekend.
-Alot of calls wern't going our way
-Didn't take advantage of being the home team. Most of the penalties for moving earlier were on US!!!
-We really wern't making aggressive playcalls.
-Too worried about the deep ball to sto the short yardage plays that kept letting the Pats convert on 4th down.
Well if you have anything else to contribute please do. I'm not too dissapointed but with a devision like the NFC East every win/loss can and will be held against you when playoff time comes around.
I also wanted to rant some about college football. Is this the year of the upset or what? It's obvious that limiting schools to the same amount of scholarship players has really evened the playing field. Hopefully this will lead to a change in the Polling system and hopefully a play off system. Now more than ever it's difficult to decide who is better than someone else when unranked teams are beating Ones and Twos!!! I just don't know what to think anymore, but I'm glad that lesser know schools are getting their fair share of attention.
I'll leave you with a quote:
"The man who tried his best and failed is superior to the man who never tried.''
