It's a transfixing mystery from the depths of Victorian London, about an orphan girl named Sally Lockhart who struck a man dead with three words- The Seven Blessings. However, she has no idea what they mean, and why he died of fear when he heard them. Sally only knows that she'll do anything, say anything and be anything to find out... Eventually, she found the ruby, but she did not want it, as it brought her nothing but death and unhappiness. She threw it over the parapet into the river. Mrs Holland plunged and died in the end.
