Well I didn't want to bump, so new thread.

I hate school. Don't call me a idiot.

From a site called School Survival:
If you hate school, parents and teachers might be quick to label you as 'troubled' or 'defiant' or diagnose you with a bunch of disorders. Nothing could be further from the truth.
There is nothing wrong with hating school, there is nothing wrong with hating being forced to go someplace you don't want to, and being "taught" things you're not interested in, in ways that would kill you if boredom were lethal.
You're not worthless if you don't get good grades, and you're not mentally ill if the mere thought of school scares you.

In fact, you're probably perfectly sane.

They say school is for learning? Well, being bored is hardly any way to learn anything! No wonder most people don't remember what they were forced to memorize at school. School isn't about learning, it's about training people to be obedient to those with authority over them.

Don't trust school to 'educate' you - only you can be trusted with that!



This psychologist has a message for kids who hate school:

I, as an adult and a psychologist, want to say to any children out there who hate school: you are not alone. Most people hate it too, but usually they don't feel entitled to say so, and many can't bear to think about it so they hardly even know how they feel. You are not mad – you don't have a Deep Psychological Problem (though you might develop one if you stay in school against your will!); and you are not bad for wanting to live your life the way you choose, doing what you think right – that is what everyone should be doing. You are not the problem: coercion is the problem. Being forced to go to school is the problem. (read the rest of this article)


But kids need an education!

If you think kids would not learn ANYTHING if it were not for school, you might not be aware that there are alternatives to school.

By the way, "anti-school" doesn't mean "anti-education".



Here is something from the S-S forums:

4. "You should be glad that you have schooling, what about the millions that don't?"

Answer: Americans many rights where many countries do not. But just because America is relatively free from trespassing on rights, does not mean that an American should ignore breaches of their rights because "at least you have some."


5. "School is just something that everyone has to do."

Answer: The only reason that minors must go to school is because adults have decided they should.


6. "Without a high school diploma getting (a job)/(into college) will be very hard."
Answer: Society commonly, and in many cases rightly, believes that drop-outs have a lack of motivation and so they are not easily employed. But just because someone hasn't completed school does not mean that the person is an idiot. The argument can be considered to be against school. If completion of high school is not a completely accurate indicator of intelligence, then initially judging intelligence on completion of high school would be stupid.

Seroiusly, who can honestly say they enjoy school adn everything about it?
(Those who do scare me) I like some parts of schooling, like my friends, recess, lunch and hometime. if only hometime were a subject... :rolleyes: The subjects I like are sport, music and drama. Aside from that, school is boring. I'm not capable of sitting and listen for a session, it bores me stupid.

The lessons bore me to sheer death.
The teachers are always giving us tons of homework.
However, whenever a teacher is absent, we have free time.
Free time is probably the best thing ever.
We get to chat, have fun, go crazy and do anything we want.

School is not for classes don't you know that? It's for that 30 minute time you get to talk and not get in trouble called lunch. Where all your friends and you get together to talk about the things that have been happening over the day. In my case, we joke about how I like this girl. We always say things that aren't really true, but they give us a laugh. School may seem like it sucks, but when you succeed as well it makes you feel good about yourself as well. I like school in some ways, myself.

It all depends on your teacher.
My history teacher is great, he makes a lot of jokes. And somehow I learn more about history by watching videos and by doing fun class projects, rather than reading books.
And also, you know how you dislike having to do long reports and everything? I did too. However, you can make it more fun if you write about the subject, but in a way that you find exciting. Then just edit it into what would be an acceptable piece of work.

Keep in mind school wasn't meant to be a place where you are supposed to hang out. While this is fine having friends and all, schools' true purpose is nothing more than to prepare you for your career. Hell I should know, I am forced upon with many extra test-preps for the SATs', even though I'm still young.

As for me, i love school. Haha, since i only go half a day then i go home, its nice. Senior year is the best year of your high school.

what!!!!!!!! school is fun and easy. if you do your work before its due its never really much,and your friends and hanging out after school. Out here in Cali it was raining and we still had a pool party after school at the park. the whole 10th grade class was there!!. come on guys if you do your work and stay out of trouble your school days are the best days ever.

I loved school, and I love university. It keeps you busy, and you have something to do. I'd be depressed if I just sat around all day with nothing to accomplish, or no one to socialize with. If anything, you should feel fortunate that you even have the privelage to have an education, while some people in Africa or anywhere else don't.

Newtown, I just have to agree! Everyone conforms; everybody has to be the SAME. And yep, the teachers don't show a bit of tolerance at all. They don't even allow us to talk (unless we're having a break). And they cane kids (the victim is always a boy) in front of the class. They don't care a tad about the pain the poor kids experience, neither do they care about the shame.

Besides all that, teachers LOVE to give us lots of homework. And when I say LOTS, I mean it. Today, I'm expected to write TWO essays, complete a mini Science Assignment and complete a stack of worksheets - and hand them all in tomorrrow.

Yeah right, Zywlom, school prepares us for jail.

In my school they don't cane you. Our teacher's think the fact that our lockers are too small to hold anything and we aren't allowed to carry backpacks with us is enough.

I kinda don't like school, but I think everyone should like school, because in school you get the chance to learn something. Learning is important, because only when you learn, you can get a good job! :D
