I personally like it because it is a large step forward to reducing spam. I was thinking of suggesting this earlier, but I had a feeling that all the people that have been try to get a million posts would bombard me with a bunch of No's and stuff so I stayed quiet. But what is even better about it is that there is no more popularity on the forums, these forums are basically democratic. I know that sounds wierd, but it's true. I'm really glad that they removed posting.

I think you don't get the point of this poll, it's not meant to call anybody n00bs, King just wants to see where everyone stands on this. I for one think that no post count will maybe make people even attempt to post better, now that theres nothing to compete with.

While the number of posts you have can indicate a long-standing and dedicated member, it can also be a sign of a spammer or post-*****, which sadly tends to be the case on this forum. Hopefully, by removing post count, it will help put more emphasis on the quality of members' posts, rather than how many they make.

I find this good, but a liitle suprising. I never realized they took it away untill now.
But you can still go to a user's profile and see their post count.

that is a good reason for the post count being shut off
but
if you go to the users profile it shows the number of posts, is that intentional???

i dont think this will completely eliminate the spamming.. because the rank are still under our names..
when you see mumbling penguin you know that players has posted a lot, i dont know if that is a good thing or a bad thing but i think the mods should gave the same name to each rank, if they do that you cant see in what rank they are..
but yeah i think it is good that the post count is gone..

Yeah that was what I was thinking but then like the first rank please read the rules you could have 99 posts or 1 post and you wouldnt know so then it dosnt make it as good to be a high rank.

Even though post count encouraged some spam,
I preferred it. Now it is hard to determine what users
are new, and which ones are older on the forums.
Since the forums are new you can not tell the difference.

I'm actually glad that it was taken away from the side panel next to the posts. Honestly, post count is what has been hurting us the most. All people do is think about how more posts and higher ranks makes you "cooler" than someone else. I think that judging someone based on post count and ranks is one of the biggest mistakes one can make.
The next thing I'm hoping for is that the ranks finally get abolished for good. There is no need for ranks on here as it was proved to be part of the problem with spam as well.

Not as many hypocritical views in this thread as I thought there would be. Come on, stop lying, the only reason why you penguins post here is for your post count. All most of you care about is popularity on Mammoth. Post count doesn't get you popularity anyway, helpfulness does. Unfortunately, you nine years olds haven't realised that yet. I exclude a few people from this, you know who you are.
I predict a mass user migration to a forum with post count. Oh well, it will give this forum a larger quantitly of mature users, which will benefit the forum greatly

Ranks have been deleted, but users that have not posted since the change will retain their old rank. Tomorrow Ben will recount posts and titles, which will fix everyone's rank to the default setting "Club Penguin Player".
Post count being shut off is permanent, and post counts displaying in profiles was a minor mistake which will also be removed.

Staff members will continue to be able to customize their own ranks, and infractions will also alter ranks still, so users know that they have been given an infraction.

Pengo mentioned "special ranks". So, would there be any special ranks such as one relevant to "Miniclip Master" or "Still Wetting the Bed" on these forums? I know you said that it wasn't working out on the old forums, but I was wondering if that would be a consideration now.

There likely will not be any positive ranks, as that is associated with "playing favorites" and will break the "all users are equal" thing we are trying to enforce. "Still Wetting the Bed" may or may not carry over, but we think problem users are just going to rack up infractions and be gone anyways.

That's definitely understandable. No one wants to be accused of playing favorites and the consequences can be harsh. I'm assuming this is going to take effect as of tomorrow morning or whenever Ben logs on, correct?

I have another suggestion for the ranks that you may want to consider. Since the post count has been shut off and there are no more ranks, In thought it would be useful if we could have our own personal ranks, that way everyone is still equal, and they are satisfied. Because the word filter doesn't apply to the custom title field, and being able to have your own title is something you need to EARN. Giving it out to everyone ruins the privilege. I am not turning it on, and I am fairly certain Ben is not turning it on either.

If you care about post count you ARE a spammer. Biggie Shmin said it all. I am not just being a hypocrite when I say this. As a few of you will remember a long time ago I made a thread basically saying down with post count, and it finally happened. Post Count unfortunately leads to popularity (at least to the penguins). Popularity leads to pride. Pride leads to jealousy. Jealousy leads to wanting more posts. Wanting more posts leads to spam.

Ranks have been deleted, but users that have not posted since the change will retain their old rank.
Wait, so, if you haven't posted since the count shut off, it means you keep a post rank? o.o Sorry, not too clear on that.

Considering the time distance between the first time I posted on this and now, the spam has dropped tremendously, I am still sticking by my post. I might post here in another week or so on the differences on the spam issue.

Yeah, that's correct. VBulletin checks whether your post rank is correct every time after you make a post. Ben I believe can get the system to recalculate the ranks for everyone, but it doesn't really matter too much in my opinion.

I am feeling strongly about this staying this way. Its brilliant, I can be funny and no one rates me for my number of posts.
e.g. "z0mg lykm ur nt pstin enuf funeh jkz coz i was lyk gttn brd." - This person's posts - 7,932,893 - Rank, On my way out...

I do not have "Super Administrator" permissions. Those forum powers are reserved for my supervisors, aka Ben and Rob. Only Ben can resync the ranks.

And SPAM leads to this post....so you are "not just being a hypocrite" when you say what???
You are patting yourself on the back because you think you caused this change to happen? This does NOT follow logical sequence and you are admitting to be a hypocrite...think before you post...or is that what you intended to say? Hmmmm.

I am glad they took it away because it will reduce spam. I liked it a little though cuz it can help you determine how long people have been on the forums.

Get you're facts straight. I am NOT saying I caused this change. I'm saying I'm not being a hypocrite because I have wanted no post count for a LONG time. Read my flim-flamming post before you try to sound like a genius. I'm not being a hypocrite, Einstein.
