View Full Version : Can't type in anything to do with numbers!

OKAY - I'm not talking about typing "83" or "52", I mean typing "one" or "five" or anything like that! Seriously! I was trying to say "Let's do .... at your igloo first" but it didn't show up on my friends screen (the computers we are using are side by side, so I know that for a fact). Anything with numbers is FILTERED OUT!
I heard a lot about people having problems with the filters, but I didn't know it was this bad! Seriously, something should be done! I didn't even know (other than my friend didn't see it) that it got filtered! How could I have known if I was talking to someone else? I couldn't! I would go on as if they heard, but they wouldn't have known what I said.
You can't type "one" or "two" or anything. The best you can do is add a "z" or something before the number.
This is great filtering, but impractical! You can't say "lets do this first". So, what do you say? You can't just add that to the safe chat, either, the word "first" can be added to absolutely anything!
EDIT EX. You say "I really like the number three" and it shows up on your screen, but nobody elses. So, you think that it got through, but it didn't.
EDIT NEW INFO: You also can't say Canada, or, I'm assuming, US - all those names are now filtered, yet as usual it tricks you into thinking that it got through.
The only good thing is that they achieved their goal - I see less and less of a way that you could say your address to somebody.

Number cheat:
On = 1
To = 2
Tree = 3
For = 4
Fiv = 5
Sick = 6
Sevn = 7
Ate = 8
Nin = 9
En = 10
The should work. ;)

they are gonna do what Virtual magic kingdom does, which is only allow real words to pass through.
So the word "fiv" or "nin" won't pass through because it is not a real word.

I like that rule. That means they can filter all the cussing without trying to monitor the 'tricks' that clever users come up with.

It does get annoying though, but it is affective. If someone tries to trick the filters it shows up as "####"

Well as light headed as people are Club Penguin has to try their hardest to get all these bad things out of a kids game. (No offense to anyone who took this to the heart).
But they do need to let go of the rope a little..

I personally think that Club penguin would be better if it took up a system like this, they could ban all the bad words and make it alot easier for users like me and you to have a conversation. Because to tell you the truth, right now you cant have fun on CP because you cant talk.

I'm sure they are heading in that direction. They seem to be doing what other avatar chat games have done. As a company they have to keep an eye out for competitors, and if that means making it safer (since it is one of CP's recognizable features) then they probably will.

No, when you say something that is not in the filters the whole thing doesn't show up. Just like in CP. If you say something that the filters don't allow it doesn't show up.
I'm just saying that CP seems to be going in that same direction, just like the other avatar chat games for kids

That's been happening for ages!
they are gonna do what Virtual magic kingdom does, which is only allow real words to pass through.
So the word "fiv" or "nin" won't pass through because it is not a real word.
If they do that, it will take ages for the words to get through (at least a lot longer) since the computer has to check each word millions of times to see if it is a word.
I like that rule. That means they can filter all the cussing without trying to monitor the 'tricks' that clever users come up with.
[this was in response to the idea of "fiv" or "nin" in replacement for "five" or "nine" not allowed since "fiv" isn't a real word]
As I just said - slows down the system.

It would be easier, but they still wouldn't allow us to talk the way we want - they're taking out everything to do with numbers since addresses have numbers! They e-mailed me on this one.
yea but if they do sumting like everyone will be like #### you #### that shut hthe #### up and thats ALMOST as bad as actually saying it
So true - but it is better than taking out the ENTIRE sentence, especially when the sentence is displayed.

EXCEPT - for these things, anyway - it DOES show up on YOUR screen, just NOBODY ELSE'S
You can type in "I love the number five" and it will show up on your screen, but nobody elses. You don't even know that it got filtered!
SERIOUSLY this is a problem.
I just found out something, not such a huge problem, but...
You can't type in "Canada" or anything like that. I'm assuming you can't type in any addresses, either, such as US or what ever else there is.
I was using it like this: "Let's go to Canada" as in 'let's go to the Canada server" -- I was with a friend, and we were on the US server, but it was slow. So, I suggested we move to the Canada server - but it didn't go through.
THIS IS MADNESS
I can type in one and two...i don't know what happened 2 u
Yah - it does show up, but no one else sees the speach bubble. Only on your screen.
1.Numbers ("0-9")
2. Periods
3. Numbers("one, two, etc. all the way to billion") and "first" "second" etc.
4. [acceptable] names of places such as Canada
PS -- I edited my initial post with some of this info

Soon, they'll start taking letters away...:rolleyes:
I think it was a little cold that they took the numbers away, first this ' , then this . and now the numbers.
It's pathetic. Sure some people might use the numbers for swear words but they still can mix up letters to make something that sounds like a swear word. And if you take all the letters away, I'm sure nobody except a couple four year olds will want to play it, anyway.

I personally think there are a ton of better ways CP could handle all this, and I don't understand why they don't use them.
Blocking out Canada and US? Honestly, what is the point of that? So you can't give away the country you live in? Well, since they tell you to try to stick with the country/server you live in, you're already giving away that information by logging on!
They've created a chat for smaller kids (the Ultimate Safe Chat). Can't they create one for teenagers who don't feel like struggling with the filters, trying to have a simple conversation? They could have you enter your parent's email address, and have your parents give you permission to use the Not-So-Safe Chat. The chat could include your basic filter (blocking out cuss words, etc.) but still let you use numbers, NAMES OF COUNTRIES, and words that aren't words.
I created a thread a while back, which is in my signature, which has a lot of ideas for changing the filters to still be safe, yet easier to use for us players. I'll be creating a poll soon, and I'm sending it to CP, along with my ideas to help.
