I have two questions this time.

1. Is the HTML feature enabled on these forums?

2. Is it possible to add bookmarks to your post without html?

1.<font color="Red">If this appears in red HTML is enabled.</font>
Doesn't work so I presume not.

2.Not sure, unless you could fool the link button.

The thing that is confusing me is the fact that there are HTML tags. If there is no feature to do html editing, then what are the tags for?

HTML tags exist so that if the forum did have HTML enabled (quite rare) that if someone wanted to post the code for how do something in HTML, they could do to show how to type red text:

<font color="red">This is red text</font>

It doesn't do anything else apart from that.

PS. Look in the bottom left on Posting Rules and it says 'HTML code is Off'

Okay, so if HTML tags exist because the forum has the HTML feature, then why have it as an option when you post? Is there no option to get rid of it?

An advantage of the HTML tags is allowing to demostrate code:

This is a link (Testing URL)

This is a link (Testing URL)

This is a link (Testing URL)

Produces: This is a link (Testing URL)

As you can see only the PHP and HTML tags would work in this situation. So HTML tags do have some usage and also to allow people to copy code for there websites.

Yes, an option to get rid of it would be nice; however, I don't know if that's at all possible.

But why bother demonstating a code if most people don't know how use it and why can't you just use a quote? It does the same thing as the html tags except it says "quote" instead of "html". Moreover, you can just type the html code directly into your post and people will comprehend what you wrote. They'll know that it's a code/php script/html.

It doesn't really make a difference.

I meant that you can use HTML tags to display BB code without it complaining.

EDIT:The bookmarks probably wouldn't work unless you could add the Name attribute into the URL BB tag without it complaining.

What do you mean bookmarked. Like you want to bookmark the page so the next time you sign on you can see exactly where your last post was to see what you missed?

I think she means like this.

On a guide thread for example, we would have our table of contents.

Table of Contents

1.Being a good forumer
2.Not spamming.
3.Becoming a mod.
4.Why Gamerboy is good :P

The idea is that somewhere down the page you would get:

3.Becoming a mod

Then she wants to know whether she could use bookmarks so when you click on becoming a mod in the table of contents it links you to that section.

I'll pull up an example if you want further explanation.
EDIT:
Simple demo on a friends site. For long guides this system could be used without all those spaces (http://www.nucleargames.co.uk/files/uploads/testing2.html)

It's basically what he said. You click a link, and then it brings you to a part of the post that you linked it to. It's almost like the links you see on web pages that say "Click Here to Return to the Top".

HTML is disabled as a precaution, you can do lots of weird tricks with it.

eg:?

What a about the Other question?

<script language="JavaScript>
do
alert('Hello')
loop
</script>

Is one example not sure about the other question, but I presume it isn't possible.

Would there be a way to modify the url BB tag to contain a name parameter.

Yes, I would agree that you can do numerous things with HTML that can prove to be harmful to the forum.

I understand that there is no html editing enabled; however, is it still possible to do bookmarks or something related to bookmarks?

I dont get what you mean by bookmarks, like a link to automatically add something to your bookmarks?

Click here for an example of what I think she means (http://www.nucleargames.co.uk/files/uploads/testing2.html)

I'm not sure whether that would help. Normally you can only do that with posts.

Well, if you have to explain it to RFS because he doesn't know what a bookmark is, then it's most likely not a feature on these forums. Being an administrator, RFS basically knows everything about the forums.

But anyway, bookmarks (not the kind that saves a page) are basically links that link you from one part of a page to another part of the same page. It's like those "Click Here to Go To The Top". You normally see them on website FAQ's.

Well I ask RFS a question that he might be more suited too.

Would it be possible to customise the URL BB code so you could do something that produced:

<a name="#chapter2">Text here</a>

Oh those are called anchors from where I come from. :D

No we don't have those as a feature. :( Sorry/

Alright. I call them bookmarks because that's what Microsoft Front Page calls them. :P

So, then the best thing to do would be to color code everything then. Anyway, thanks for your time. I appreciate it.
