I choose piplup because he is one of teh better starters in the game to start out with. Well atleats for the furst few gyms. And also Empoleon is a very mature final evolution, i mean really, it wears a tie. Empoleon is very mature.

So what? It has Drill Peck or Ice Beam for Torterra, it's not STABed, so it's not important.

Don't choose piplup. Turtwig is good for most of the gyms. Chimchar grows to have insane attack and speed. But piplup grows to have terrible speed and attack. Chimchar is a good option.

Not that great. Good speed and attack, but my Empoleon can kill him in one hit.

Well he falls apart on the first one. He's good on the second one. He's bad in the third one and the 4th one he's normal.

As a Starting out Starter (With no evo's), I would say Piplup wins.

Howvever, once it starts evolving, Tutwig/Torterra wins. He has some nice moves he can learn. I picked Piplup to start, and when I got it to Empoleon, I was tireded of it because it wasnt doing anything good for me.

Chimchar. He evolves to Infernape, who is really fast and really strong. I think he is the best for the whole game.

Dont pick turtwig,they have good stregnth but lvl up real slow,mine was lvl 45 when i had to face the elite 4

Piplup seems bad at first, but Empoleon is amazing.
Chimichar is tough, but has low tolerance to certain attack types.
Trust me, if you pick piplup, you will go far quickly.

Torterra is still faster than Empoleon, and can KO Empoleon.

Also, Blizzard is a really inaccurate attack, you'll get pwned by Torterra's EQ after that miss if Torterra is slower.
