View Full Version : IMPORTANT READ FIRST: Rules for this subforum.

Howdy, and welcome to this new subforum on the Club Penguin Forums. You have made it this far as to click on this pinned thread so now here comes the fine print. Please read these points and understand them. If your thread breaks ANY of these points your thread will be locked/deleted and bans/infractions may be given out at the moderators' discretion.

Your good buddy Spem is the director calling the shots here, so please listen to him. He has much experience in the realm of making doodads and whatsits.

The Rules:
1. When you post your game you NEED to have proof that you have already done work on it. This means A working demo to play. No exceptions.

This does NOT mean:
Pictures or "sprites" drawn in MS Paint.
Threads with very little info asking for 100's of Beta Testers.
A wall of text explaining what you WANT to do rather than what you HAVE done.
2. Once you have showed that you have proof of this game/program possibly being released you can then post your ideas for the rest of the game, ask for help, etc.

2.5. Be descriptive. If you need help from people who know how to code with Game Maker then be specific. If you are making the storyline or plot of your game and want to tell people, be specific. Give details so people can see what you are doing and be more willing to help.

3. Keep your thread updated. If you are no longer working on this game then please have a Moderator lock it.

4. I know I just said this in Point 1, but make sure you have proof that this game is going to happen. Blank posts will be met with the fury of angry Moderators.

5. Please keep all of your discussion into ONE thread. Don't make a new thread for each installment of your game. Edit your first post, and then post an update in your thread to let people know you have a new version out. :)

(If I moved an old thread into here that is currently breaking these rules, we will just lock it. The rules listed in this thread start right NOW. Everything before hand will not penalize you.)

If you need HELP with coding or making something then you can post your problems in here. Mainly, we ask that you are as descriptive as possible with the problem you are having, and that you have done the following before posting:
Read the pinned threads, yes even the long ones. They may answer your question(s).
See if your question has already been asked by someone else recently.
If you're using a program like Game Maker, consult the program's help files to see if they can help you also.6. Habbo Retro's are NOT allowed. Do NOT post them.

If you are unsure of what any of these rules state, please ask in this thread. Do not use this thread for "thank you for this forum" posts.

I have a question thats partly related to this.

You say to only make one thread for your game, and keep it updated. I think it would be easier if we are allowed to edit our thread's titles so that we can let people know that the game is update, a new version is out, etc.

Please take this into consideration.

I like your idea with this place, like I suggested a while ago to have proof of a game being made before it is allowed. Nice to see not everyone read this sticky and went against it rather quickly.

I also just love the way how no one seemed to care about Rod Rego created another thread for his game, after the rules for the forum are put in place. That makes three threads purely about waddles, each one having similar questions asked and similar bad attitude replayed to the person who had the question asked? Any reason why no such action has been taken yet other people who have had a disregard for the rules had got an infraction?

Yet another person who made a thread without proof, going against the rules just as badly got an infraction? Favourtisim among moderators perhaps?

I didn't make a game ever, but if some like Rod Rego, who makes a lot of those fan games, if he wanted to make a new game is he allowed to?

For an example, Rod made the Waddles game, and he wanted to make a new game called theanything game, is he allowed to make a new one?

I don't see why not. I don't *think* there is a limit, unlike the 'clubs' forum. But I'm not sure.

Gamerboy
09 July 2007, 03:56 PM
I don't think there is a limit, but if you try to overdo it then most of your threads will be closed. If your trying to make five fan games at once, it is fairly obvious that not all of your games will come out.

I think you should be allowed to have two, if one is already released and your still making improvements to it.

Sure, I just put this forum here because most of the games are CP related. If you want to make something not related to CP you can post it here in if you like. If we get enough non-CP games then maybe I'll add a forum to the general ones for them.

If you are making two games that are completely different then you can have a second thread. You should at least finish your first game though before you start a second one.

I ended the Rod Rego thing. Also, there is no favoritism among the moderators, maybe there is, but not with me.

Also RFS, I have a question. About every thread here has no proof the game is already in progress. Should I warn them about it, or just lock the thread, etc? I just wanna make sure I know what to do before I do it.

If it's an OLD thread that I had moved in here when I opened up this forum, you can lock it. Technically they were not breaking the rules at the time so they can't be held accountable for their actions. NEW threads though, you can lock those as well and if you deem it necessary, you can give them the new "No Beta/Demo" Infraction.

By Demo, RFS means a working part of the game, as in a beta version. That does not look like proof in my eyes because you basically stole every image from Club Penguin.

I guess it depends on what kind of game you are making.

Because I went for four years without a screenname of my own. I picked "Radio F Software" because I urgently needed a new name for a personal reason. I may end up just switching to RFS again, my email, website, and everyone else calls me by it.

No demo. No thread.

"demo will be posted tomorrow" will not cut it anymore. Demo will be posted now, or your thread gets trashed. There are too many vaporware games and they are cluttering otherwise GOOD projects on the forums.

If he edited it in there before a Moderator saw it, then we can't exactly say we saw him "do the crime". If it was an OLD thread that was moved in, then it was probably just locked since it wasn't breaking the rules at the time.

As long as you have a demo posted and available for test and receive feedback on, you can post for whatever you like in your thread.

Is there any limit to the amount of games we make? I know, now, that you can make 2 games in seperate threads, but I am in the middle of another game and I am going to make another one after that, possibly, and if I do, then I'll need to know in case there is a limit.

I suppose it is a start and a basis that you can actually program, however the bad quality and not much that works could become problematic. The mods and admins could have a different opinion though.

I would suggest adding another rule or making it more clear which is about making recreations and so on. There is nothing to remind people about it is they did not see the other threads as they got deleted. Just a suggestion.

One question about the rules and probably asking permission later on in this post.

I am currently in the progress of making an online multiplayer game, I would like to post a thread however I have two problems:
1. No host for the server side of the game found yet.
2. No graphics at all at the moment and I don't know anyone who would make them. (Mine are really bad)
Both of these mean I can not produce a demo of my game, is there any chance I could make one anyway?

I would like to have an answer to the question above.

Edit: Oh yeah, sorry about the triple post.

His question's were never answered. Letting it slide. Don't backseat. It's up to the people in blue, orange, or green to decide who gets an infraction.

Well, for now if you want perhaps you can use your "testing graphics" (;)) and create a one player version of the game where everyone can see what is being worked on and from there you can get it going. Perhaps maybe everyone can test the user-side parts of the game so you can start with those bugs first.

I'm not sure if this question has been asked already (I'm sure it has), but do we need a demo for the game we create, or cana we have other proof of the game is really being created?

And, what if we need help making the game before a demo is produced? What can we do about this?

Thank You,
America Air;)

Yes you MUST have a demo of you're game, if you don't you will receive an infraction. [CLICK] (http://penguinforum.miniclip.com/showthread.php?t=19740)

Oh-Kay. Thank you. I was just check because I've read through some of the other pinned topics and I wasn't sure because others were asking and telling other things about this rule which confussed me. But, thank you for informing me on the truth!

Thank you,

Next suggestion, perhaps put a bit more emphasis on the rule about keeping your threads updated and requesting it to be locked if it is an old game. I would advise that there would be a rule similar to the Clubs and Teams section about only having one open game thread, unless they ask for permission and have good reasons for doing so in this thread.

My Suggestion is remove h1t from the programming penguins filters...

Gamerboy

hit isn't filtered. Neither is hitTest, what would be the problem is when you do something that has s. before hitTest, as the full stop (or period) is ignored. To avoid this just put spaces in it, then say that you need to remove the spaces.

If it's a PC game mod you should probably post about it in the Computer Corral forum.

RFS/Spem. Could you put something (preferably massive and red) about ripping/plagiarism in?

Okay, I made a Yo Momma! Graphics Thread, and it was locked. I was asking for artwork and graphics for a Yo Momma! Jokes Game that I am making. I can't start the game unless I have those graphics/artwork. But they closed the thread and I can't get them.

My question is " How do I post a demo if I make a thread to get help on the game so I can start it but it gets closed?" :(

Also he gave me an infraction for it. That is just not fair when I HAVE TO HAVE THEM TO START THE GAME.

You could post here to ask for what you need. Read the stickies, they are helpful.
